8. Brendan and Melissa Holmquist: Brazil

Today, we sit down with the Holmquists who served as missionaries for 10 years, most of which was spent planting a church in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. They share openly and vulnerably about what led Brendan to a deep period of depression and burnout, how that affected their family, and how they submitted to God leading them back to the U.S. They walk us through the faith challenges that came with leaving the mission field when they didn't want to, allowing God to lead them to a new season that was completely different than they had ever anticipated, and how walking through that period has given them a perspective in serving others in a way they wouldn't be able to otherwise.
