Artos Audio
This sermon was originally delivered at Shawnee Heights Baptist Church in Topeka, KS, on February 1, 2026. In this sermon from Jeremiah 6:14-17, Kenny Cecil explores the dangers of spiritual complacency in ancient Judah and its relevance to today’s churches. The message first profiles leaders who lack an appetite for holiness: they deceive themselves and others by offering superficial peace amid sin (6:14-15a) and ultimately receive destruction as judgment (6:15b). He then examines the profile of a people with no appetite for holiness: they reject God’s Word, lacking delight and obedience while forfeiting spiritual rest (6:16), and they reject God’s teachers, lacking wisdom and discernment while forfeiting spiritual protection (6:17). The sermon calls listeners to recognize self-deception, repent, and pursue holiness for true peace in Christ. This is a public episode.
