About Be Whole. Do Good. Podcast

The goal of this podcast is to strengthen families, starting with our own. At a time when there is so much that can distract, discourage, and disconnect us, our family is on a journey that is led by three core questions: 1. What whole-being practices can we implement so every member of our family can have increased capacity, savor life more deeply, and use their gifts to do good? 2. How do we translate and apply what we learn into simple, tiny habits that can be done amidst the demands of life? 3. How can we use our increased capacity to better care for others in our family, community, and throughout the world? We invite you to join us on this whole-being health journey by learning and growing with us through this podcast!

"Sleep is the foundation of the home." While other things are also foundational, this thought from child sleep expert Courtney Zentz is so right! We have all observed the increased levels of grumpiness, fighting, and stress, and decrease in motivation, connection, and willingness that occur after one or more family members have a poor night’s sleep. We have long known that sleep is foundational to our family culture, and that we want to improve our sleep habits. If we only had a dollar for every time we have said, “If we could just get to bed earlier.” Which is usually followed by, “If we could just get our kids into bed earlier.” Which is why we decided to interview Courtney! In the interview we gained a host of helpful insights and tips regarding child nighttime hyperness; sleep habits vs. sleep needs; helping our kids rooms be more supportive of bedtime; different products that are supportive for children’s sleep; sleep shaping, training; and behavior modification at different ages; and more. This interview with sleep expert, researcher, and author, Dr. Wendy Troxel is filled with wonderful reminders, as well as new insights. A few of those helpful insights include the importance of feeling safe and secure as we go to sleep, practical ways to increase that feeling before bedtime, how we should see bedtime more like a plane slowly descending rather than a light switch, and how to approach the morning to best prepare the way for the night.
