Description

After months away from the microphone again, this time because my pen was busy and my jaw was tight, literally. But, I'm back. People have asked me where Brown Sugar Beach came from. Most assume it was the beach, therapy, or even a dream. But the truth is... there would be no Brown Sugar Beach without music. In this deeply personal episode, I share how love songs, faith, storytelling, Atlantic Beach, childhood memories, years of journaling, therapy, and finally finding my grown woman's voice all came together to birth my first novel. This isn't just the story behind a book. It's the story of giving yourself permission to create without asking for permission, of healing through imagination, and of discovering that sometimes the dreams we've carried since childhood are simply waiting for us to become the person courageous enough to bring them to life. Whether you've already read Brown Sugar Beach, you're curious about the writing process, or you're carrying a dream of your own, I hope this conversation reminds you that it's never too late to trust your voice. Come sit with me. Because before there was a manuscript... there was music. #BrownSugarBeach #ComeSitWithMe #TracyMac Send us Fan Mail [https://www.buzzsprout.com/1767430/fan_mail/new] Support the show [https://www.buzzsprout.com/1767430/support] ✨ TracyMac Peace Place Podcast (BWWP)✨ You’ve found your Peace Place, a holistic sanctuary where all are welcome, and every life is honored. The Beauty of Simultasking

What if doing more doesn’t require doing more things at once? In this episode, TracyMac revisits a practice she taught years ago: simultasking, doing one thing, one time, with intention and excellence, while allowing it to feed multiple streams. She reflects on why multitasking often left her producing quantity without giving people her best, and how simultasking has helped her navigate life as an author, business owner, counselor, clergywoman, teacher, storyteller, wife, mother, daughter, friend, soror, and more. She also shares how that philosophy shaped Brown Sugar Beach: one story created to welcome readers across generations, stages of love and life, faiths, spiritual practices, and literary tastes. After receiving a message from an award-winning gospel artist who said, “I needed this escape,” TracyMac explores something fiction can offer that self-help sometimes can’t, the freedom to simply enter a story, exhale, and enjoy the journey without another assignment to complete. Plus, she invites Brown Sugar Beach readers and book clubs into the conversation with a little trivia, laughter, and an open invitation to come sit with her. One thing. One time. Multiple streams. And maybe a little more room to be fully present for your own life. #BingeABook: More Than a Challenge. A Campaign

What if #BingeABook isn't a challenge at all? What if it's a campaign? In this episode, I share why I believe it's time to reclaim our attention and rediscover the joy, and necessity, of reading for pleasure. We talk about the difference between simply recognizing words and true literacy, why deep reading matters in a world competing for our attention, and how books strengthen our ability to think critically, empathize, discern, and grow. I'll also share why this campaign is deeply personal to me, from my lifelong love of reading to watching my daughter overcome dyslexia and my father persevere through reading challenges. This isn't about reading my books. It's about reading somebody's book and investing in one of the greatest gifts we've been given: our minds. So, trade one more episode for one more chapter. Welcome to the #BingeABook Campaign. Come on. Let's turn some pages together. episode Do It Afraid artwork

Do It Afraid

What if doing it afraid isn’t about pushing harder—but honoring where you are? What does it really mean to do it afraid? In this episode, I’m sharing a quieter, more honest version of what that looks like in this season of my life. Not pressure. Not performance. Just choosing to move forward—even when I don’t feel fully ready. I reflect on a full-circle moment that stayed with me—from following an actress for years, to finally meeting her, to later wearing a sweatshirt from her clothing line that simply reads: Do It Afraid. I didn’t know how much I would need those words. Because doing it afraid hasn’t looked bold or loud for me. It’s looked like rewriting what I thought was already finished… honoring my current capacity… and creating without turning it into stress or expectation. If you’re in a season where things feel slower, quieter, or uncertain—this is for you. You don’t have to force it. You don’t have to perform it. But you can still do it… afraid. Come sit with me. 🤎 Brown Sugar Beach - A Novel by TracyMac  [https://www.iamtracymac.com/tracymac-books] Ayana George - Do It Afraid Apparel [https://beunrestrained.com/?utm_source=ig&utm_medium=social&utm_content=link_in_bio&fbclid=PAb21jcAQsM0JleHRuA2FlbQIxMQBzcnRjBmFwcF9pZA81NjcwNjczNDMzNTI0MjcAAafLKQy_SKOKyiuwMTugB-dKWvBgFXXy-CKeCSMhzUP-66WxUQ8qlNKqzs-DBA_aem_F_zmuKDsVmn2dWG3hc2yog] Send us Fan Mail [https://www.buzzsprout.com/1767430/fan_mail/new] Support the show [https://www.buzzsprout.com/1767430/support] ✨ TracyMac Peace Place Podcast (BWWP)✨ You’ve found your Peace Place, a holistic sanctuary where all are welcome, and every life is honored. episode The Season I Went Quiet artwork

The Season I Went Quiet

After months of silence, TracyMac returns, not with explanation, but with revelation. In this deeply personal episode, she shares why she chose quiet, not from burnout, not from illness, but from discernment. Wrestling with calling, seminary, inherited religious traditions, and the pressure to perform certainty while still evolving, TracyMac opens up about what it means to become still on purpose. This wasn’t a survival pause. It was excavation. Reclamation. Alignment. She reflects on faith beyond performance, devotion beyond grading, and spirituality that exists outside buildings, syllabi, and expectations. And she makes one thing clear: TracyMac is, and will always be, Black Women’s World. Evolution is not abandonment. It’s growth inside the truth of who she has always been. And from that quiet season, something unexpected emerged: a love story. In this season of release and expansion, TracyMac shares the heart behind Brown Sugar Beach and what it means to live whole. Brown Sugar Beach was born not as a departure from theology, but as an embodied expression of it, a story about healed love, discipline, emotional maturity, pleasure without apology, and the kind of spirituality Black women have always practiced in kitchens, memory, oil, and whispered prayers. If you’ve ever stepped back because you were becoming… If you’ve ever wrestled with faith and found God deeper than tradition… If healing has changed how you love… Come sit with her. #BrownSugarBeach  This is still your Peace Place.
