Episode 17: Batman’s Birthday Party - AEW Dynamite & Collision Reaction

Join us as we call a Code Bonnie Raitt with an early episode reacting to the events of AEW Dynamite (April 15) and Collision (April 16)! [00:55] Something to talk about: Darby Allin is the new AEW Men’s World Champion! The vibes were weird, and we have some extremely reasonable and nuanced critiques. Let’s get them out of the way before we continue. We go a little off the rails on Mount Washington (like ya do) and talk rematch strategy. [24:40] Back to the events of (a particularly yappy) Dynamite: Kenny and Will get vulnerable in medical; Tommaso Ciampa goes goblin with Dezmond Xavier; FTR does their best MxM Collection impression; Kevin Knight defends his fresh new TNT Championship vs. Claudio Castagnoli and scares us again on the mic; Jericho gets his ass beat and files a trademark; Takeshita is soooooo sorry!; Ospreay and Hechicero have a rogue vs. sorcerer battle (with bonus neuro check); Thekla hangs out with some very sleepy children; Mox takes the light with the dark; Willow defends her TBS Championship; and Shida & Stat stir some shit. [44:45] Moving on to Collision: Cope and his shiner are interrupted; Jack Perry is ready to defend the National Championship; the Bucks and the Rascalz fill our flippy-shit quota; the Dogs bark; the Divine Dominion take over the Parthenon; the Conglomeration take off their backpacks and take on the Lethal Twist (with a little Ring of Honor chat); Bowens and Hook get weird; Shida & Stat in action (hi, Big Anne!); Mox and Nick Wayne entertain; Okada and Takeshita make it official; Blackheart Lio Rush and PAC (with Danny Garcia) give us jump-scares, an exorcism attempt, and more fun than we’ve ever had in our lives; a new push for Bandido?!; Brody King, Místico and Máscara Dorada squash some locals; Mina tries to warn Stat (and the audience) about Shida; and Thekla and Windzaaa have a ripper (and break out the brass knucks) for the Women’s World Championship. [1:04:50] Odds and ends: A plethora of weekend events, including Effy’s Big Gay Brunch and Palms Slam Fest! Forbidden Door announced (sorry, TNA)! AEW Redemption? Lucha masks! Cats! Giardia! Episode 16: Bionic Colon - AEW Dynasty Review & Reactions

Join us as we valiantly battle Sunday-night-PPV-induced sleep deprivation and discuss the events, storylines, and vibes of AEW Dynasty! [2:09] Zero Hour: chock full of women! Alex Windsor vs. Marina Shafir in a proxy battle; the surprise return of Kamille; and a surprisingly (?) killer Women’s World Tag Team Championship match between Divine Dominion and Hyan & Maya World. Bonus dudes: Jack Perry defends the Natty against Mark Davis. [18:35] Young Bucks vs. Takeshita/Okada: everything we could possibly have asked for! [24:07] Jericho vs. Ricochet: we’re making lists and taking bumps! [27:25] Darby Allin vs. Andrade for a Men’s World Title shot, and the psychology of it all. Bonus: astronaut impressions, for some reason? [40:10] FTR vs. Cage & Cope: has there ever been a time we weren’t waiting for this match? Tony Khan’s strong message to Canada. Most importantly: where’s Beth? [47:20] Casino Gauntlet: the fun is stored in the midcard! The Jet is not only TOOOO FLYYYY but also our new TNT Champion, and we could not be more thrilled! [53:57] Thekla vs. Jamie Hayter for the Women’s World Championship: aura, haircare, and hitting real hard. As usual, we discuss the state of the women’s title scene. [1:00:11] Jon Moxley vs. Will Ospreay for the Continental Championship: predictions, assumptions, and story-building toward the Owen? Also: please stop twitching after taking neck bumps. [1:12:55] The Dogs vs. The Conglomeration for the World Trios Championship: hometown hero Kyle O’Reilly is back!!! Dogs mistreat furniture, the Glom are perfect, and Gabe Kidd is hurt, maybe? [1:18:10] MJF vs. Kenny Omega for the Men’s World Championship: we may be too tired to analyze the match in a meaningful way, but Kat’s ready to tell you about diverticulitis and how she feels about babyfaces being dumb after ref bumps! So, how about that build to All In? [1:42:51] Assorted AEW things we’re looking forward to in the coming weeks: suggestions for MVP and Hook to aid their recruitment efforts, upcoming chicken-farm-adjacent live events, and the much-anticipated return of the CEO! And, unrelated to everything except perhaps colon health, the Bean of the Week! Thank you for listening! Please continue to find us wherever you get your podcasts. Episode 15: HUBRIS! AEW Revolution and Aftermath

Join us after a long month away, only some of which Kat spent stuck trying to get home from Los Angeles. We’ll go over the events of AEW Revolution and discuss continuing storylines from Dynamite, Collision, and a bit of Ring of Honor in context. [5:30] Zero Hour: comin’ in hot with the Costco Guys vs. the Infantry; white people continue to love Wayne Brady; Willow Nightingale, Lena Kross, and Chekhov’s belt defense; and we’ve shaken out the whole toybox of dudes for the 21-man Blackjack Battle Royale… [15:09] Revolution, Act I: in medias res for Ricochet and Jack Perry in the ultimate Curls vs. Bald National title showdown; the impossible decision of when to pee during a PPV; FTR and the Bucks bring the drama (and lure Cope & Cage out from hibernation, finally); Toni Storm vs. Marina Shafir with no one at ringside, mostly (also: MINA!!); Mox retains the Continental belt vs. Takeshita and Kat’s pissed about it; the Billy Goat returns and presumably has no idea what’s going on! Bonus: electoral regrets. [35:00] Revolution, Act II: an abrupt Women’s Tag Team Championship match between the Babes of Wrath and Divine Dominion leaves us wanting much more; Swerve and Brody determine for once and all who is Thee Most Dangerous (and Kenny stops playing Street Fighter for a moment); and Thekla and Kris go hard and sleazy for two out of three falls for the Women’s World Championship. We speculate on the women’s championship scene and the impending return of Mercedes Moné. [50:24] Revolution, Act III: the Trios Championship gives us joy, new gear, and opportunities to sing along with Místico; DCF drama; Andrade and Bandido strip for the stars; we detour re: Ring of Honor’s new studio setup and Hechicero’s CMLL HeavyWorld Championship; Roddy gives in and accepts that he loves Orange Cassidy (at least as a projectile); we don’t enthuse about Darby Allin or The Dogs, particularly; and last but certainly not least: Hangman Adam Page hangs himself by his own dog collar, with his own stip that no one asked for, and we’re ready to talk about it (and the men’s championship scene)! [1:35:50] Post-Revolution odds and ends: Kevin Knight and Okada have us hollering! We’re girding our loins for Dynasty! It ain’t a party unless it’s a Death Riders party! Whither Ospreay? Luchasaurus should not be driving! Plus: a teensy bit of catching up with Ring of Honor, including Trent’s Thriller dance and a lot of love for Maya World. Thank you for listening! Episode 14: Dastardly Behavior - AEW Dynamite & Collision, ROH, House of Glory

Join us as MORE SNOW, SNOW FOREVER, GO SHOVEL MORE SNOW, by which we mean we’ll talk about AEW Dynamite (February 18) and Collision (February 21), Ring of Honor HonorClub #155 (February 19), and House of Glory: No Turning Back (February 20), where we got up close and personal with some of our faves.  [1:36] AEW Dynamite from Sacramento, CA: cold opens aren’t just for Collision anymore! Tomohiro Ishii returns! Mox packs a Priority Mail box and seals it with a kiss for Mark Davis; even Dax the narc doesn’t deserve a WHAT? chant; Willow and Megan get meaty for the TBS Championship 4-way match; Hangman and MJF talk stips and invoke Cody Rhodes while AEW fans everywhere get in the kiln; the Death Riders attempt to channel the strength of the woof without laughing; Adam has a strong theory on Roddy Strong’s next move; Hook wins the #1 Recruiter Award at the regional sales conference; the Brawling Birds make their TV debut against Viva Van & B3CCA; Ospreay teases to please; and Kenny and Swerve finally do the thing (RIP Aubrey Edwards). [1:00:17] AEW Collision from Oceanside, CA: Jet Set Rodeo rocks their matching gear against the Demand; aww, it’s the entire Jackson family! (what could go wrong?); a backstage vignette from House of Glory gets us talking about our experience at No Turning Back, including Andrade vs. Charles Mason and MJF vs. Zilla Fatu; Claudio Castagnoli, Josh Alexander, Marina Shafir, and Lance Archer mix it up nominally on behalf of CMLL; Tommy Chompers (hat tip to Erika) still seems pretty sane; the Death Riders and DCF respect Yuta’s new headgear; Megan Bayne and B3CCA (RIP) have a standby match; Thunder Rosa returns and faces Julia Hart; Thekla commands mere mortals to cheese in her presence; Private Party issues a challenge in front of the beer pong table; Gabe Kidd and Clark Connors threaten to make an enemy in Toni Storm; and FTR and the Rascalz inject some much-needed chaos into the men’s tag team title scene (and the Jackson family). [1:29:14] Ring of Honor HonorClub, featuring a bevy of Aussie indie talent! We enthuse about Zayda Steel vs. the somehow-not-Australian Johnnie Robbie, The Meaty Don’t Kneel, Mark Davis vs. The Tuckman (Kat’s still Chelsea Dagger-ing), CastleRunners vs. North Shore Wrestling, and Captain Shawn Dean vs. Robbie Eagles. Plus: we’re excited about the rumors of a new studio show! [1:37:05] We preview Mox vs. El Clon and Mark Davis vs. Brody King on this week’s Dynamite, report back from the Valentine’s Day Heels call with Will Ospreay & Alex Windsor, and tell you about our experience at the blizzard-wrecked toy show featuring Platinum Max Caster and Murder Grandpa Minoru Suzuki! [1:45:59] A little Chatter Machine housekeeping for March, and the cat report! Plus, Kat promises a recipe for lentil soup (it’s in her Bluesky replies somewhere). Thank you for listening! Episode 13: The Tweener Bastard Matrix - AEW Dynamite & Grand Slam Australia, ROH, GCW

Join us as we melt snow to flush the toilet, and in the meantime discuss AEW Dynamite (February 11) and Grand Slam Australia (February 14), Ring of Honor HonorClub #154 (February 12), and the usual assorted & sundry graps! [02:27] AEW Dynamite from Ontario, CA: Kenny Omega and Swerve Strickland heat up, possibly due to lack of coffee; another ripping Death Riders/DCF trios match; gettin’ weird with Tommaso Ciampa vs. Kyle Fletcher for the TNT Championship; Orange Cassidy and Roddy Strong need a get-along shirt; Mina’s bi pride hair is violated; three-way wild-card tag-team chaos; we’re teased with Ospreay (and Styles?); the pitfalls of Internet Discourse; and Kris Statlander and Thekla whip the bejeezus out of each other for the Women’s World Championship (and Kat, predictably, has strong opinions).  [54:15] AEW Grand Slam from Sydney, Australia: Mox vs. Takeshita, the Continental Championship, and the power of improv; Kris and Thekla make some bloody videos; the Babes of Wrath take on MegaBad for the Women’s Tag Team Championship; Hangman Adam Page takes a new selfie and surprises us vs. Andrade El Idolo for the Men’s World Championship #1 contendership; Adam helpfully reminds Kat that several promos happened; we finally get the Hair vs. Hair match we’ve been gagging for, and it was everything (Yuta is a sheepdog?); Kyle Fletcher and Mark Briscoe hit the ladders for the TNT Championship while Kat dissociates; and MJF finally takes on Brody King for the Men’s World Championship and sets up the challenge for Revolution. Bonus: a glimpse at the fancams from House Rules Brisbane! How dare you keep this from us, Tony Khan?! [1:22:23] Ring of Honor HonorClub: Sammy Guevara ratchets up the hateability; Tommy Billington threatens to smother Jay Lethal with kisses; Michael Oku and Amira grace us with their presence; we especially adore Julissa Mexa vs. Persephone; Dalton Castle and the Outrunners stay weird; JD Drake calls out Adam Priest; everybody dies; and Bandido, Komander, Máscara Dorada, and (hell yeah) Xelhua form an incredible lucha squad sent to destroy Smart Mark Sterling and his evil cronies. [1:34:08] Miscellaneous graps: slowly catching up on GCW Superpower Slam and the Jersey J-Cup; crankin’ it in the HOG Corner with a preview of No Turning Back; plus: Double or Nothing comes to Queens? Tulips for Chuckie T?! [1:41:46] Your faithful update on our perennial faves: Cats! Legumes! Thank you for listening! Please continue to find us wherever you get your podcasts.
