Description

Rod Wilson joined Victoria Police at the age of 18 years old back in 1976. Rod would spend 43 years as a police officer, 13 of which as a homicide detective before moving through the ranks to superintendent.  Rod has arrested a lot of offenders in his time, one of which was Paul Denyer, the frankston serial killer who in 1993 murdered 3 young women. During this time Denyer killed 18 year old Elizabeth Stevens walking home from the bus stop, 22 year old Deborah Fream who was out getting milk for her 12 day old son and 17 year old Natalie Russll who was walking home from school.  We reflect on Rod’s career and what it’s like to investigate murders from started the investigation through to ultimately putting hand cuffs on the culprit. Episode 11: Thriving through stress with Leigh

As emergency service workers we are often thrust in to high pressure situations requiring clear thinking and swift actions, which may result in someone living or dying. Leigh Anderson is no stranger to this after spending 15 years working as a frontline paramedic.   This exposure led Leigh to researching stress and then collating this information in his book 'The Paramedic Mindset'. This book aims giving us the tools and skills to maintain high performance and clear thinking during these stressful events.   In this episode Leigh and I discuss different aspects of stress such as interviews, the difficulty of being new to an emergency service role and dealing with complex emergency scenes.   Link to Leighs website: https://www.paramedicmindset.com.au/ [https://www.paramedicmindset.com.au/]   Link to Interview Coaching:   https://www.codeonecareers.com/about [https://www.codeonecareers.com/about]   Link to Policefit:   https://www.policefit.com.au/
