Well, another year and another unforgettable Unbound experience! Team Enjoy and returning guests Vince Murdock, Jeremy Ferguson, and Scotty Ostrander join me to unpack one of the tougher on bike events that we have ever encountered. Not going to lie this one still stings for some of us more than others but there is no denying the mark this year's race left on all who attended. 2015 is famously referred to as the mud year, with all due respect to 2015 I don't think it could have been worse than this year's installment. It is famously called Peanut Butter Mud and it is sticky and slippery at the same time if that makes any sense. The 3 of us signed up for the XL and Scotty the more sensible one signed up for the 100. Sadly none of us XL racers managed to finish this year and that hurts. Ep 205 Grit, Gravel, and the Wild West with Jesse Morris

After a one year break the Wild West Gravel Grinder is back on May 16th. With 4 route options from mild to wild in terms of distance and elevation. There is a timed 6 mile segment called the Hammer loop with actual prizes but other than that it's just a great day in the mountains. Explore the picturesque rolling hills of Red Bluff California that are equally beautiful and challenging. Jesse talks about how he came to cycling late in life and went from weekend warrior to race director. We also talk about some of the challenges with the different route options and dive into tire selection. This event represents what Gravel riding is all about, there will be racing happening for sure, but this ride is more about community and adventure. Ep 204 BMX Legend and Hall Of Famer Brian Patterson

This was a fun one for me, Brian and I raced BMX in the same era with much different outcomes lol. Brian became the back to back #1 Pro in 82 and 83 and I ended up selling bikes for a living :). Brian's success was no accident, his older brother Brent paved the way in many ways. Brent also had an amazing career and they were both inducted into BMX Hall of Fame in 1988. The two of them made up the most dominant siblings in the sports history. Brian shares stories from his illustrious career, including his time as a top pro rider, what it is like to win a car while still in High School, the creation of Patterson Racing Frames and the Patterson Factory Team, his retirement from the sport and also how he still supports BMX to this day. Brent and Brian leave a tremendous legacy, and it was an absolute honor having Brian on the podcast. Ep 203 Gravel Racing legend Yuri Hauswald

Gravel Racing Hall of Famer Yuri Hauswald returns to the podcast, to discuss his recent decision to come out of retirement to tackle Unbound Gravel again. This time for a charity endeavor called "Chase the Race", Yuri will start the grueling 200-mile race dead last and try to pass as many racers as possible, all while bringing his legendary stoke to all he comes into contact with. His goal is to raise money for a bike park and bike infrastructure in Emporia, a city that has meant so much to him in his career. We also discuss his 2023 induction into the Gravel Racing Hall of Fame and his storied history with Unbound that dates back to 2013 including the 2015 victory of the Dirty Kanza (now Unbound Gravel).  Yuri's motivations for returning to racing are rooted in his passion for the gravel community and giving back. As he once said "The midwestern hospitality that everyone speaks of is absolutely a thing at Unbound". In pretty short order they have gone from a Kickstarter concept to a full blown bike brand. Connor shares how he met his now business partner in college and how they set out with pretty modest goals initially.
