episode Case study for decarbonizing brownfield manufacturing operations cover

Description

A North American-based Siemens plant that manufactures electrical distribution and control products was targeted for decarbonization as part of the Siemens Net Zero Operation by 2030 initiative. This podcast describes how the plant migrated from heavy reliance on natural gas, energy-intensive HVAC, and high-consumption component painting processes, to clean power sourcing, onsite generation, and aggressive energy efficiency measures. By focusing on the four decarbonization levers of consumption reduction, advanced electrification, solar generation, and clean energy the plant successfully lowered natural gas usage by 90% while reducing net carbon emissions by 90%.

Reaching Scope 1, 2 and 3 goals: One materials manufacturer discusses its journey

For modern manufacturers, sustainability is no longer a cost argument. It’s an investment, revenue, and profitability driver. But transitioning to sustainable operations involves executing on a comprehensive and coordinated Scope 1,2 and 3 emissions reduction plan. Today’s podcast features global materials manufacturer Coherent, a sustainability success story.  Coherent, who also supplies material goods to Siemens for their very own manufacturing operations, will describe how their all-encompassing environmental, social, and governance (ESG) strategy is boosting transformation efforts and business growth.  Siemens representatives will also review Coherent/Siemens partnership best practices and detail the lessons learned when jointly working to achieve Scope 3 emissions targets.

How buildings can be both resilient and carbon neutral

More efficient building infrastructure systems and renewable energy resources translate into fewer carbon emissions released into the atmosphere. By combining field-tested energy management technologies across building, energy generation, and energy storage environments, Siemens is fulfilling what it views as its mission and responsibility: to reveal what’s possible, to demystify how decarbonization technologies in buildings can work together, and to provide facilities staff with a holistic view that minimizes energy spend while maximizing comfort and security. This podcast discusses the inherent challenges associated with building decarbonization and reviews best practices for minimizing building carbon emissions. Guest: Siemens Real Estate, Stephanie Dorsey
