S2E9 - You Are The Body of Christ

YOU ARE THE BODY OF CHRIST What if you were just one big ear? Or one big hand? That would be crazy! The human body has many parts that need each other to function. Paul in both 1 Corinthians 12 and Romans 12 talks about the Church as the body of Christ. We often pass over that metaphor with nodding approval and then move on. But what if he was serious? (Note: he IS) Let’s dive in together as we continue to explore Paul’s teaching in these passages. YOU ARE THE BODY OF CHRIST!

S2E8 - The Way of Humility

THE WAY OF HUMILITY Jesus invites everyone to come to Him because He is humble and gentle. It turns out that Jesus is simply embodying the humble heart of God found throughout the story of Scripture, beginning in the very first chapter of the Bible. Out of His humility, God draws near, rescues, and dwells with us, inviting us into a way of life marked by humility and gentleness that He Himself embodies. COMPASSION FOR OUR NEIGHBORS Jesus boils all of life down to one commandment: love God and love your neighbor as yourself. While profoundly simple, this can be challenging to live out, especially when we wonder who are our neighbors. While Jesus has everyone in mind, He is particularly concerned that we have compassion on those on the margins of society: the overlooked, downtrodden, and outcast.
