Divine Savior Church-West Palm Beach
Chapter one of Jonah confronts the persistent reality of the Old Adam within the believer, who seeks to flee from the presence of the Lord when his will conflicts with personal comfort or prejudice. Although Jonah was sent to proclaim God’s message to bring an entire nation close to him, the prophet’s own heart was far away from God and his purposes. Jonah’s running from God was not merely a rejection of a task, but a futile attempt to escape from the very Source of life and mercy and to pursue life on his own terms. Thankfully for Jonah and for us, he is the God who would rather send a storm to shatter our ships than allow us to perish in our rebellion. Thanks for listening to our podcast!
