07. Love Never Dies

Tracy and Reagan talk about all the things wrong with the Phantom of the Opera sequel Love Never Dies.  For some reason, old man Sir Andrew Lloyd Webber decided he needed to make this thing and we decided we needed to see it.  Come for the giant, dancing skeletal rat monster, stay for the take down of Christine and Phantom's star-crossed love… Anyway, Tracy doesn't agree with me (even people who are usually right can sometimes be wrong) but there is no way the original musical and this show are in the same continuity.  This is alternate universe Phantom, Christine, and Raoul. That's the only way the plot works, Tracy. The only way. 06. Heathers

This time we decide to shake up our usual format by talking about everything that's wrong with Heathers, the 1988 movie directed by Michael Lehmann and starring. Winona Ryder and Christian Slater. "Last time it was a movie from 2005 and now you're doing a movie from 1988??" I hear you asking. No, see, it's topical and relevant(er) because Heathers the Musical premiered Off Broadway in 2014 and it is through this lens that the original flaws in Heathers the movie become so apparent. Well. Now that I've made that sound super exciting and not dry at all, get ready for an episode chalk full of opinions and clips from Heathers the Musical because Tracy wanted this to be an Everything That's Right episode, but that's not our name... 05. Rent (the movie adaptation)

Channeling the wrath of yesteryear, Tracy and Reagan bring in special guest star Teresa as they discuss the missteps and disappointments of the Rent film adaptation, including the stupid reasons provided by the director for cutting an important song, the flattening of a major minor character, and Bon Jovi hair not being an adequate substitute for spiky punk rock boy hair.

04. Outlander on Starz

Tracy and Reagan discuss the adaptation of Diana Gabaldon's Outlander book series to a tv show on the Starz network.  Highlights include a frank discussion of the flaws and successes of the wedding night sex scene, why epilogues are terrible, the word "handles" used to describe Twitter usernames just like someone who hasn't used the internet since the days of IRC, and "positivities" as a noun, because sometimes you just have to go with the word that your brain gives you instead of pausing to find the right one.  This isn't an essay, it is a podcast.  Ye be warned.
