We tend to treat goals like they are the only thing that matters. We put the outcome on a pedestal. We tell ourselves that once we reach that point, then everything will make sense. That thinking is understandable, but it is also flawed because it ignores what really changes us. It is not the single moment of achievement that shapes who we are. It is the long stretch of effort leading up to it.
