About Friendship Chemistry

Friendship Chemistry is the podcast where two Gloucestershire besties, Alivia McClung and Hannah Gallardo, chat life, laugh at their own bad takes, and occasionally stumble into advice worth keeping. They first bonded in secondary school science class back in 2015, and after navigating their teens, early twenties — and even a year-long fall out — they’ve come back stronger (and with plenty of stories to tell). Expect gossip, oversharing, advice you maybe shouldn’t follow, and the kind of honest banter that comes from a friendship that’s been tested and rebuilt.Basically? It’s chemistry you can’t fake. Don't Fear The Pap Smear!

Welcome back to Friendship Chemistry! This week’s episode starts with a catch-up on life lately — including Hannah’s new acting classes, stepping out of her comfort zone, and gearing up for her first performance. The girls then get into the main topic: cervical screenings (smear tests / pap smears). They share their recent experiences, talk through what actually happens, and clear up some of the fear and stigma around it. It’s an honest, open conversation about women’s health, why it’s important to get checked, and a reminder that you’re definitely not alone in feeling nervous about it. ---- Listener shout-out! ✨ Have you had a smear test experience you wish someone had told you about beforehand? We want to hear your stories — the reassuring ones, the awkward ones, and everything in between. episode From Besties to Blocked: Our 9 Month Fall Out! artwork

From Besties to Blocked: Our 9 Month Fall Out!

Welcome back to Friendship Chemistry! This week’s episode is… a big one. The girls are finally addressing the fallout — the 9-month period where they didn’t speak at all. From a chaotic holiday in Benidorm, to miscommunication, stubbornness, and one very dramatic night out, they break down exactly what happened and how it all spiralled. It starts, as most bad decisions do, with no sleep, cheap drinks, and a “just one more bar” mentality. What follows is a messy mix of exhaustion, drunken arguments, anxiety, and two people who are both convinced they’re right. Add in a foreign country, a broken door, and some questionable communication skills… and you’ve got the perfect recipe for a friendship breakup. The episode then dives into the aftermath — going home early, weeks turning into months of silence, removing each other off everything (including Netflix, which was apparently the final straw), and both of them quietly missing each other but refusing to say it. Things take a more honest and reflective turn as they talk about pride, stubbornness, and how easy it is to let a long-term friendship slip over something that, in hindsight, really wasn’t worth it. They open up about what it actually felt like not having each other in their lives, and how weird it is navigating your 20s without your “person.” Finally, they get into the make-up — a drunk text, a long overdue apology, and the conversation that probably should have happened months earlier. Safe to say… it was never that deep, but also meant everything. It’s chaotic, a bit emotional, very honest, and proof that even the strongest friendships can have their moments — it just matters what you do after. ------ Listener shout-out! ✨ Have you ever fallen out with a friend and not spoken for months? Did you make up… or are you still stubborn about it? We want to hear your stories — the petty, the dramatic, and the ones that were actually serious. From Fields to the Big Brother Final with Cam Kinch!

Welcome back to Friendship Chemistry! In this episode, Han and Liv are joined by Cameron Kinch, farmer, Big Brother finalist, and part-time media explorer, for a chat about life on the land, TV fame, and everything in between. Cameron gives a peek into the realities of modern farming — from cattle and crops to muck spreading, and the very real financial and mental health pressures of the industry. He and the hosts reflect on common misconceptions about farming (yes, there’s more to it than Clarksons Farm), the rising automation and tech in agriculture, and why young people are still choosing this tough but rewarding lifestyle. There’s also plenty of laughs, chaos, and slightly gross anecdotes — including a memorable tale about the smell of human fertilizer versus chicken and cow manure. Plus, Cameron shares how his farming upbringing shaped his instincts, work ethic, and even his time in the Big Brother house. On a brighter note, he talks about hope for the future of farming, the joys of countryside life, and his plans to explore media opportunities alongside working the farm! episode I've Lost the Weight… So Why Am I Still Not Happy? artwork

I've Lost the Weight… So Why Am I Still Not Happy?

Welcome back to Friendship Chemistry! In this episode, Hannah and Alivia open up about body image, fitness, and the lifelong struggle with weight and self-perception. They trace their journeys from teenage years, through school and college, and into adulthood, sharing stories of running, yo-yo diets, chocolate obsessions, and the pressure of trying to maintain a “goal weight.” This episode was inspired by their very first listener email, asking them to tackle this topic. Hannah and Alivia reflect honestly on how relationships, stress, grief, and daily life have shaped their attitudes toward their bodies, and how even with healthy routines and personal progress, the mental side of body image can linger. Raw, relatable, and full of honesty, this episode is about more than numbers on a scale—it’s about the lifelong work of self-acceptance. ---- Email us at friendshipchemistrypod@gmail.com and let us know — and please tell us if you’d like to stay anonymous (we promise not to read out your full name, address, or National Insurance number… probably). episode Why Making Friends as an Adult Feels Impossible artwork

Why Making Friends as an Adult Feels Impossible

Welcome back to Friendship Chemistry! In this episode, Han and Liv tackle one of adulthood’s biggest hidden struggles: why making friends in your 20s is actually so hard. From school friendships drifting apart to the awkward reality of “friend dating,” the girls get honest about loneliness, effort, and navigating new connections later in life. Liv shares her experience using friendship forums like Candy Club, including how she met Paige — now a close friend and accidental recurring character on the pod (and proud Deezer user). Han opens up about moving away, starting from scratch in a new city, and braving Bumble BFF in the hope of finding people she truly clicks with. They reflect on how easy friendship felt when you were forced together at school or uni, and how adult life makes everything harder — less time, more pressure, and a lot more hesitation. There’s also plenty of chaos along the way, including heated blankets, streetlights as home lighting, live phone calls and a passionate debate about music streaming apps. ---- Email us at friendshipchemistrypod@gmail.com and let us know — and please tell us if you’d like to stay anonymous (we promise not to read out your full name, address, or National Insurance number… probably).
