episode 40. "Happyshack" - Happy Gilmore vs. Caddyshack cover

Description

It's a hard ticket between Happy Gilmore and Caddyshack! Which one will you watch? Let's decide! The legendary directorial debut of Harold Ramis, Caddyshack has persevered as a timeless(?) comedy with massive influence, including Sandler's own Happy Gilmore. Both are relentlessly quotable slapstick sports stories, but they're structural opposites: an ensemble mess vs. a focused, character-driven underdog story. We don't step on the green, well, ever over here at Hard Ticket, but we do frequent the theater. So, these two movies are still somewhat made for a couple of white guys who may or may not be wearing khakis and polos, right?

41. "It Moonstruck One Night" (with Best Picture Brainrot!) - It Happened One Night v. Moonstruck

It's a hard ticket between Moonstruck and It Happened One Night. Which one will you watch? Let's decide! This week, we're crossing over with Adam and Sarah from Best Picture Brainrot [https://open.spotify.com/show/4hF0uVzBZdOQlW4tzfsehq?si=2deedd687f04434c], a fellow movie podcast counting down the weeks to the 100th Oscars by watching every Best Picture winner since the ceremony's conception. And what better way to do it than with a couple of legendary rom-coms with more than a few Oscars to their name? It's Cher vs. Claudette Colbert; Nicolas Cage vs. Clark Gable (I'm particularly interested in that bloodbath). These two "epic romances" are nevertheless quite different for the sheer amount of impact they've made. Will one triumph the other, or will they both leave this podcasting house divided? 0:00 - Act I 11:17 - Act II 1:01:10 - Act III

The Blind Spots: National Treasure

What? You like movies, and you've never seen Jon Turteltaub's National Treasure? What are you, some kinda freak? That's right, The Blind Spots returns with another one of Jeff's. We didn't mean for it to happen, exactly, but Midtown Cinema just so happened to be playing National Treasure while we were in the neighborhood with all our recording gear in the back of Tristan's 2011 Toyota Camry XLE. So, we just flipped everything on and banged out this bad boy with our friend Josh Brown. And yes, it's a bit more of a "bad boy" than usual. Don't judge us on the production quality of this one. When the stars almost align but not quite perfectly, sometimes you gotta break a few eggs. Need us to break that metaphor any further? It's National Treasure! What more do you want us to say? Oh, one more quick question: Is it a blind spot? Is this a movie everybody needs to see, or is it overblown, overrated and just plain over? Let us know in the comments, and be sure to send us plenty of hate mail!
