This is the final episode for Season 1 of the IN BTWN ARTIST. Host Stephanie Brown is interviewed by Sierra King [https://www.sierraking.co/], an artist, archivist, and curator. Stephanie Brown is an artist whose work explores identity formation among people of African descent. She draws from her Jamaican heritage and South Florida upbringing, incorporating historical research into her art. Stephanie has exhibited at spaces such as The Other Art Fair LA, Swan Coach House Gallery, Black Art in America, ADAMA, and Prizm during Miami Art Basel. She holds art degrees from SCAD and the University of Michigan. Additionally, she produces and hosts the podcast IN BTWN ARTIST and co-founded The Comic Workshop [https://www.thecomicworkshop.org/]with her husband Phillip Fleming [https://www.phillipfleming.com/]to promote storytelling through comics. Previously, Stephanie served as Executive Director of Atlanta’s ADAMA [https://www.adamatl.org/] and has spoken at events like LXD Con, College Arts Association, the 1-54 Art Fair in Marrakesh, and several schools. Her recognitions include the Essere Special Fellowship in Italy, the Emory Arts and Social Justice Fellowship, ARC’s CCD program, and being a semi-finalist for the 2025 Visual Art Research Fulbright. Shane Darwent - Sculptor and Installation Artist (Tulsa, OK)

Shane Darwent is an interdisciplinary artist whose practice mines the commercial vernacular that lines American roadways to inform experimental photographic works, large-scale sculpture, and site-responsive installations. Within a landscape designed to overwhelm, Darwent’s practice seeks out a redacted formalism in order to meditate on the transitional nature of these spaces and the shape-shifting economic constructs of which they are a part. Exhibiting internationally, Darwent has been an Artist-in-Residence at the Bemis Center for Contemporary Art, Ragdale, the Ucross Foundation, and the Jentel Artist Residency Program, as well as a Core Fellow at Penland School of Crafts. He holds an MFA from the University of Michigan (2017) and a BFA from the Maryland Institute College of Art (2005). Darwent’s work is included in the publication 100 Sculptors of Tomorrow, by Thames & Hudson (2019). His solo exhibitions include Sun Smoke, Spencer Brownstone Gallery, New York City (2021); Plaza Park, Boise State University (2019); The Setting Stone, University of Tulsa (2019); and Suburban Psalm, Spring Break Art Show, NYC (2018). He was an artist-in-residence at the Tulsa Artist Fellowship in Tulsa, OK (2018–2023). Anastasia Magloire Williams - Illustrator (Clearwater, FL)

In this episode, we interview Anastasia Magloire Williams, an award-winning illustrator, writer and graphic designer with a lifelong passion for storytelling based in Clearwater, Florida. Using various styles and vibrant colors, her mission is to elevate unsung histories that reflect the beautiful, diverse world we all share. Adana Tillman - Textile/Fiber Artist (ATL)

Dr. Arshley Emile w/ Timberhouse Films - Filmmaker (ATL)

Dr. Arshley Emile is a Haitian-American director and award-winning cinematographer with a prolific career spanning only 8 years. After not being accepted into a screenwriting degree program, Dr. Emile pursued a degree in English literature instead. His passion and calling for filmmaking eventually resurfaced, leading him to establish a rich career in the industry while concurrently teaching middle school English. Today, Dr. Emile is a full-time creator who has earned selections at numerous film festivals. He won Best Documentary for 2022 at the Santa Barbara International Film Festival and also received the award for Best Documentary at the Atlanta Film Festival, showcasing his exceptional talent despite his relatively short tenure in the field. Most recently, Dr. Emile directed his first feature-length film about the life of Eric Garner, which is currently in post-production. Timberhouse Films, led by Dr. Emile, focuses primarily on portraying the Black and Brown community in a positive light, aiming to dispel negative racial narratives historically perpetuated by the media and the public.
