I'm Nik Stephney, a Southern farmer, storyteller, and the steward behind Voyage Farms. In The Weeds is my living journal of what it means to grow food and community. My story begins in Texas, rooted in the gardens and kitchens of the women who came before me. Along the way, I've learned that farming is about more than profitable crops. It's about remembering, healing and coming home to the land. Each episode is a slow walk through that remembering. You'll find field notes from my backyard farm in South Carolina, reflections on Black agrarian traditions, stories about food as medicine, and lessons I'm learning in real-time.
