This week IHC's PEI team sit down with the incredible Joely Proudfit, PhD. Joely holds an M.A. and Ph.D. in political science with an emphasis in public policy and American Indian Studies from Northern Arizona University and a B.A. in political science with emphasis in public law from California State University Long Beach. She serves as Director of the California Indian Culture and Sovereignty Center (CICSC) and Department Chair of American Indian Studies at CSU San Marcos. She shares with us her personal journey from her humble childhood beginnings to her appointment by President Barack Obama to the 2016 National Advisory Council on Indian Education. She's truly a shining example of how much we can all accomplish with hard work, dedication, and with the kindness and generosity of others.
