Description

Launched by the state treasury, this public portal allows anyone to see exactly where school money goes—from million-dollar vendor contracts and administrator salaries down to everyday classroom expenses. By putting financial data side-by-side with academic performance scores, the project aims to show parents and taxpayers which schools are actually getting the best results for their money. Join us as we discuss how this level of transparency is uncovering waste, helping parents make informed enrollment choices, and pushing for more of Louisiana's education budget to reach the classroom.

Louisiana Has $1.2 BILLION Waiting to Be Claimed | Episode 4

In this episode, Louisiana State Treasurer John Fleming, M.D., discussed the highly successful unclaimed property program. There is currently $1.2 billion in unclaimed property to return to Louisiana citizens. Each year, businesses turn over millions of dollars in unclaimed cash, stocks, bonds, securities, and insurance proceeds to the Louisiana State Treasurer's Office. These assets are known as “unclaimed property,” and can include payroll checks, old bank accounts, royalties, utility deposits, interest payments, stock certificates, and life insurance proceeds. Treasurer Fleming said, “We have made searching for your name and claiming your money easy. Citizens can check online at LaCashClaim.org, or call (888) 925-4127.”
