Special Episode: How Businesses are Preparing for PQC

In this special edition of the 'Inside Trusted Computing' podcast, Cal Dunnington is joined by the Co-Chair of the Marketing Work Group - and usual host - Thorsten Stremlau to cover the findings of the TCG's recent 'State of PQC Readiness' report! During the episode, Thorsten provides some interesting insights from the report, including the fact that 91% of security professionals within the USA and Europe have no formal PQC roadmap in place. While many experts now expecting a quantum device capable of breaking today's encryption methods to be ready between 2030-2035, 81% of the same professionals surveyed for the TCG's State of PQC Readiness report also believe that their current crypto-libraries and hardware security modules are not ready for PQC migration, putting personal and sensitive data at risk across all sectors. Listeners will get a unique insight into the current security ecosystem regarding PQC, and get inside knowledge from security professionals on how your business might be affected by quantum attacks.

S1 E5: DICE - Beyond Security for Smaller Devices (with Microsoft's Dennis Mattoon)

In this episode of Inside Trusted Computing, Thorsten Stremlau is joined by Dennis Mattoon - Microsoft Principal Software Development Engineer and Trusted Computing Group Co-Chair of the DICE and Attestation Work Groups - consider how the evolution of smaller devices, from pagers and Palm Pilots to Nokias, Blackberries, and today's smartphones, have reshaped both technology and security. Thorsten and Dennis explain how the threat landscape has expanded from simple signal jamming and message interception to complex attacks on entire networks and supply chains, and explain DICE (Device Identifier Composition Engine), the trusted computing solution designed for smaller devices where traditional TPMs proved too large. Listeners will learn how DICE generates keys, layers protection, and works alongside TPMs to secure today's more complex computing security architectures. Listeners will understand the ways in which smaller devices created new security challenges, the landscape which led to the development of DICE and how it is implemented today - from IoT to Caliptra - and assess what the future holds for trusted computing for smaller devices.

S1 E4: The TPM - 25 Years of Trust at the Hardware Level (with Google's Chris Fenner)

In this episode of Inside Trusted Computing, Thorsten Stremlau and Chris Fenner - Google Software Engineer and Trusted Computing Group Co-Chair of the TPM Work Group - explore the story of the Trusted Platform Module (TPM), the cryptoprocessor that has become the cornerstone of modern device security. From the rise of personal computers and laptops in the home to today's interconnected society, we trace how the need for stronger protection led to the creation of TPM, and how it will evolve to mitigate future threats like quantum computing. Listeners will gain a clear understanding of what TPM does - from encryption and authentication to hardware‑based attestation - and why it remains essential for proving that devices are exactly what they claim to be. Thorsten and Chris discuss the milestone of the TPMs 25th anniversary, the emergence of virtual TPMs, and the training courses TCG offers alongside OST2 to help develop the next generation of computing experts.

episode S1 E3: The Building Blocks of Trust - Why TCG Specifications are Crucial (with Dell's Amy Nelson) artwork

S1 E3: The Building Blocks of Trust - Why TCG Specifications are Crucial (with Dell's Amy Nelson)

In this episode of Inside Trusted Computing, Thorsten Stremlau is joined by Amy Nelson - Dell Technical Staff Member, Software Engineering and Distinguished Engineer, and TCG Co-Chair of the PC Client Work Group - to explore the critical role of standards in shaping secure technology. As computing continues to evolve, industries from healthcare to finance rely on devices that meet the highest levels of compliance, and this makes computing standards the backbone of trust. We take a closer look at the Trusted Computing Group (TCG), unpacking the concept of "trusted computing" and highlighting some of the crucial specifications that can provide building blocks of optimal security. The discussion also highlights the wider ecosystem of affiliated organisations, and why collaboration and interoperability are vital. Join us as we examine how partnerships across the computing standards landscape strengthen the global security approaches. Listeners will gain a clear understanding of why standards are essential across all industries, hear insight into TCG's vital role in developing these and which ones are applicable to your devices and systems, and gain perspective on how collaboration between standards bodies continues to drive innovation and resilience.

S1 E2: From TCPA to TCG - Setting Standards as Networks Evolve (with Dell's Rick Martinez)

In this episode of Inside Trusted Computing, Thorsten Stremlau and Rick Martinez - Dell Fellow and Vice President of the Client Solutions Group, and Trusted Computing Group Vice President - trace the evolution of computing networks and the security challenges that shaped them. Beginning with the era of mainframes and terminals - when "cybersecurity" meant little more than locked doors - Thorsten and Rick explore how the rise of Ethernet, ARPANET, and eventually Wi‑Fi, transformed both connectivity, and how TCG has been protecting networks since its inception. The conversation covers the formation of the Trusted Computing Group (TCG), born from the Trusted Computing Platform Alliance (TCPA), and how its standards continue to safeguard today's systems. With emerging frontiers like IoT, supply chain security, and AI on the horizon, we look at how TCG is preparing to embed trust into every layer of technology. Listeners will gain a historical perspective on how networks evolved and why security had to catch up, alongside expert insights into the origins and mission of TCG and a forward-looking view of trusted computing in the age of Internet of Things (IoT), Post Quantum Cryptography (PQC) and Artifical Intelligence (AI).
