This is a deep listening journey into the story of Khu.éex’ as told by the band’s co-founder Preston Singletary and guitarist Captain Raab. The band was formed in 2013 after a chance meeting with Bernie Worrell, keyboardist and co-founding member of Parliament-Funkadelic. Khu.éex’ is an Indigenous band that explores Jazz and Funk/Rock with an improvisational style. The fusion of these styles with spoken word in English, Tlingit, Haida and Y’upic languages is unique. Together with Skerik and Stanton Moore, Gene Tagaban and Clarissa Rizal, they recorded under the direction of Randall Dunn and created four prolific albums; The Wilderness Within, They Forgot They Survived, H é en, and WOOch. This five episode podcast series will tell the story of how they met, and dive deep into the musical compositions on each record.Khu.éex’ is currently working on new music!
