From Exhausted to Empowered: How to Ascend in Hormone Health

Episode Summary In this practical and empowering Part 2 conversation of The Living Transformed Podcast, Caroline continues her discussion with Brooks Vaughn and Nancy Tucker of The Women’s Health Company, moving from understanding why women feel off… to what to actually do about it. As part of the Season 5 theme ASCEND, this episode equips women with tangible, actionable steps to begin optimizing their health today. From nutrition and foundational habits to supplements, lab work, and trending topics like peptides and GLP-1s, this conversation brings clarity to a space that often feels overwhelming. Brooks and Nancy emphasize that while workouts and healthy eating are essential, they are just the starting point. True transformation happens when you look deeper—at hormones, thyroid function, insulin, and nutrient levels—and begin to approach your health holistically. They also unpack the importance of individualized care, the role of modern tools like GLP-1s when used appropriately, and key takeaways from recent research on menopause, metabolism, and long-term health. This episode is a powerful reminder that you don’t have to stay stuck, guessing, or striving. With the right tools, knowledge, and support, you can move from feeling frustrated to feeling empowered—and step fully into a life of strength, clarity, and purpose. What to Expect in This Episode * Why working out and eating healthy may not be enough on their own * The difference between “normal” health and “optimal” health * How thyroid function impacts energy, metabolism, and results * The role of insulin in weight loss resistance and inflammation * Why declining hormones (including testosterone) affect body composition * The importance of nutrient levels in hormone production and metabolism * Simple, foundational habits to start optimizing your health today * The “3 S’s” of health: sweat, stool, and sleep * Practical nutrition guidelines for protein and fiber intake * Why knowing your lab values changes everything * Top supplements many women may be missing * What peptides are and how they function in the body * An honest conversation about GLP-1s (benefits, risks, and misconceptions) * The importance of medical oversight and individualized care * Key research takeaways on menopause, metabolism, and hormone therapy * Encouragement for women who feel stuck or discouraged in their health journey Key Takeaways * Healthy habits are foundational—but sometimes deeper issues need to be addressed. * “Normal” labs don’t always mean you’re functioning optimally. * Thyroid function and insulin levels are often overlooked root causes. * Small, consistent habits create long-term transformation. * The “3 S’s” (sweat, stool, sleep) are essential for overall health. * Nutrition matters—especially protein and fiber intake. * Supplements can support your body, but should be personalized. * GLP-1s and peptides can be powerful tools when used wisely and with oversight. * Your health journey should be individualized—what works for someone else may not work for you. * You don’t have to stay stuck—there are answers and next steps available. Scripture Anchors 1 Corinthians 6:19–20 — “Your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit…” Philippians 3:14 — “Press on toward the goal…” Romans 12:1 — “Offer your bodies as a living sacrifice…”   Practical Ways to Optimize Your Health Build Your Foundation Focus on movement, nutrition, and lifestyle habits first—these make everything else more effective. Follow the “3 S’s” * Sweat: Move your body regularly (walking, strength training, sauna) * Stool: Support daily digestion and detoxification * Sleep: Prioritize consistent, quality rest Prioritize Nutrition * Aim for 25–35g of fiber daily * Eat enough protein based on your body’s needs * Focus on whole, nutrient-dense foods Know Your Numbers Get lab work done to understand what your body actually needs instead of guessing. Support with Supplements (when needed) Common ones to consider (with guidance): * Vitamin D * Magnesium * Fiber * B vitamins / iron (depending on levels) Use Tools Wisely GLP-1s and peptides can be helpful tools—but only when used with proper oversight, intention, and alongside healthy habits. Final Encouragement If you’ve been feeling stuck, frustrated, or discouraged in your body—this is your reminder: You are not broken. You don’t have to keep guessing. You don’t have to do this alone. Start small. Stay consistent. Give yourself grace. Because when you begin to steward your body well, you create the capacity to fully step into the life God is calling you to live. This is your invitation to stop striving… and start ASCENDING with intention. From Exhausted to Empowered: What Your Hormones Might Be Telling You

Episode Summary In this powerful and eye-opening Part 1 conversation of The Living Transformed Podcast, Caroline sits down with Brooks Vaughn and Nancy Tucker of The Women’s Health Company to unpack a topic so many women are quietly struggling with, feeling “off” in their bodies. As part of the Season 5 theme ASCEND, this episode reframes health not as striving or perfection, but as stewardship. Together, they explore what’s really going on beneath the surface when women feel exhausted, overwhelmed, or not like themselves - and why it’s often not a discipline issue, but a deeper physiological one. Brooks and Nancy bring both clinical expertise and faith-centered perspective as they explain hormones in a simple, approachable way and highlight how factors like nutrition, stress, sleep, and inflammation all work together to impact a woman’s health. This episode is a reminder that your body is not broken - it’s communicating. And when you begin to understand it, you can steward it well, regain energy, and step fully into the life God is calling you to live. Stay tuned for Part 2, where they’ll dive deeper into solutions, testing, and practical next steps. What to Expect in This Episode * Why so many women feel “off” even when they’re doing everything right * The difference between a discipline issue and a deeper health issue * What hormones actually are and why they matter * How hormones act as messengers that control key body functions * The connection between hormones, energy, mood, and metabolism * Why women’s bodies are constantly changing through different life stages * Key life phases: puberty, pregnancy, postpartum, and menopause * The concept of perimenopause as a “zone of chaos” * How stress, nutrition, sleep, and inflammation impact your health * Why “normal” lab results don’t always mean optimal health * The importance of individualized, root-cause care * Common symptoms women experience but often ignore * Why understanding your body leads to better stewardship * Encouragement for women who feel confused or dismissed in their health journey Key Takeaways * If you don’t feel like yourself, it’s worth paying attention. * Hormones are essential - they impact your entire body. * Feeling “off” is often a combination of multiple factors, not just one issue. * Normal is not the same as optimal - thriving is the goal. * Your body is constantly communicating - learn to listen. * Health is stewardship, not selfishness. * Every woman’s body is unique - there is no one-size-fits-all solution. * You are not meant to just survive - you are called to feel well and live fully. Scripture Anchors Hebrews 12:1 — “Let us throw off everything that hinders… and run with perseverance the race marked out for us.” Psalm 139:14 — “I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made.” 1 Corinthians 6:19–20 — “Your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit…”   Signs Your Body May Be Asking for Attention * “I just don’t feel like myself” * Constant fatigue or low energy * Disrupted or poor sleep * Increased anxiety or mood swings * Weight changes that don’t make sense * Brain fog or lack of focus * Feeling less resilient than you used to be * More intense PMS symptoms than before Foundational Truths About Women’s Health * Your body is interconnected - hormones, nutrition, and stress all work together * Hormones are constantly shifting, not static * Life stages (puberty → pregnancy → postpartum → menopause) impact everything * Symptoms matter just as much as lab work * Healing begins with understanding, not guessing Final Encouragement If you’ve been feeling exhausted, confused, or unlike yourself—you are not alone. Your body isn’t working against you. It’s inviting you to pay attention. You don’t have to settle for “just getting through the day.” You were created to live with energy, clarity, and purpose. Start with awareness. Ask questions. Seek understanding. Because when you steward your health well… you are better equipped to ASCEND into everything God has called you to be.   Connect with Brooks & Nancy The Women’s Health Company Website: https://www.thewomenshealthcompany.com/ [https://www.thewomenshealthcompany.com/] Instagram: @thewomenshealthcompany  Connect with Caroline Instagram: @carolineharrisward Email: caroline@transfitathens.com Website: www.transfitathens.com [http://www.transfitathens.com/]App: TransFit Personal Training App Train with Caroline & the TransFit Team TransFit offers personal training, group training, yoga, HIIT, Bible study, corporate events, nutrition consulting, and Zoom coaching. And when that truth sinks in, everything changes. About the Guests Gayle Shackelford Gayle is a UGA graduate who worked as an engineer before choosing to stay home and raise her family. En fantastisk app med et enormt stort udvalg af spændende podcasts. Podimo formår virkelig at lave godt indhold, der takler de lidt mere svære emner. At der så også er lydbøger oveni til en billig pris, gør at det er blevet min favorit app.
