Description

The significance of the location of the 17th-century tomb of the last recorded chieftain of the Ó Mainnín clan, in the choir of the Franciscan friary at Kilconnell in East Galway, is discussed by Sally-Ann Barrett and archaeologist Dr Christy Cunniffe in this podcast. So too is another high status Mannion burial in the nave of the friary at the end of the eighteenth century, whose descendants continue the family traditional of burying their dead in the same hallowed ground to this day
