Marbella with Him & Her
Welcome to the latest episode of Marbella's leading expat podcast, Marbella with Him & Her, presented by PJ Lopez (@pjlopez1marbella) and Hannah Murray (@radiohannah). Each week they bring you news from Marbella and San Pedro de Alcantara mixed in with their busy social lives and some highlights from Hannah's radio show interviews that were interesting during the week. They kick-off this week's podcast with the aftermath of their epic BBQ and the leftover food. PJ took lots of burgers and buns to the office where colleagues cooked up a burger storm for lunch during the week. PJ also made burgers for Hannah to try and rekindle her love for them. Listen to see how he got on. This week was very much about the eclipse starting with Hannah's interview with her long time ‘go to’ astronomer Ken Campbell who was actually in the studio for the first time in a long while. They discussed how to safely watch it and what to expect and where it would be most visible. On the actual night of the eclipse Hannah went with friends and family to watch it by San Pedro beach at a fish restaurant they had vowed never to go to again due to their awful service. Not everything went to plan so listen to see what happened. Meanwhile PJ was in the UK and although not watching it he did see the darkness descend into an eerie dusk at the height of the eclipse. Another interview highlight from Hannah was with Gervaise Phinn who was a Yorkshire based teacher and is an author. He shared some funny stories from his education days including one that will leave your eyes watering. The nations new boy band, (well, man band to be precise), Club Orange, were another interview highlight, as was standup comedian Sergi Polo who is a comedian that does his show in English, Catalan and Spanish. They chat about dropping PJ at the bus station, his trip on the bus to Malaga Airport and his night at the airport before he flew at 6am. He shares some interesting anecdotes from his evening from litres of Guinness to a lack of customs staff. PJ gives an update on his time in the UK and then his trip back from Gatwick south terminal. They give the dates of the Malaga Feria and also a warning about fines for taking and uploading photos of drunk people on social media. This week's articles from their collaborators The Euro Weekly News include one about the recent earthquake in Granada that was felt in Nerja and Malaga. They also have a warning thanks to another article about hotel scams and how sophisticated they have become. They also chat about the overnight thunderstorm on Friday night and the oldest lifeguard still working at the age of 72. The podcast is slightly early this week as Hannah will be out celebrating her birthday in the sunshine with her girlfriends. Listen next week for all the gory details!
