2. Location Association

Sometimes God brings us back to a place of brokenness or pain to heal and restore.  How do we deal with a place that we associate with pain? A place that triggers us, reminds us of a painful experience, brings negative emotion, and sets us back? Do we avoid it? Can we reclaim it? Can God heal it? In this episode, Madison will talk about 3 difficult seasons of life she has associated with specific locations and how surrender can bring healing to our painful experiences. Freedom is found when we process the hurt, deal with the hurt, and heal from the hurt with the strength of God. The places that come to mind may never have a "positive location association" in your heart. But we should strive not to be overwhelmed and consumed with hatred, bitterness, and anger towards those seasons and places.  With Christ, we will not be consumed or overwhelmed by the experiences we’ve faced. The Healer comes to make us well. The bitterness won’t dissolve unless we are willing to work towards forgiveness. Forgiveness doesn’t mean forgetting. Your hurt is valid. But forgiveness frees you up to experience peace. We can find purpose in the pain. Maybe it’s time to take a walk down memory lane and open up that wound or memory to our gentle Maker. There is freedom and joy in redemption and forgiveness. And I think it’s time for us to work on those negative location associations. It’s time to reclaim.
