Kings and Kingdoms - Week 6

In 1 Samuel 18 & 19, we see Saul’s jealousy of David reveal how insecurity and self-focus can distort our view of God’s purposes and lead us toward self-destruction. In contrast, David responds with humility, faithfulness, and trust in God’s timing, reminding us that true victory comes through surrender to God rather than self-promotion. Ultimately, the passage points us to Christ, who humbled Himself and was exalted, calling us to live lives shaped by repentance, discipleship, and trust in God’s redemptive plan.

As Israel looks around at the power and security of surrounding kingdoms, they begin to distrust the God who had faithfully led them all along. This message challenges us to confront the subtle ways comparison still shapes our lives today and points us back to Jesus, the true and better King.
