episode The Multifaceted Identities of the Colonized cover

Description

Colonization is a process that requires a complete rebranding of the oppressed. In this episode I discuss the nuances of identities and names of the colonized with Paniz Vedavarz and Hamza Omer. Paniz, an pale iranian - canadian immigrant disusses the complexities and contradictions with her ethnic and racial identify. Hamza, a muslim ethiopian discusses the nuances of his african and religious identify. Both these ancedotal accounts are accompanied by concepts and ideas from Brian Thomas paper on identity, specficially african american identity. These ideas are extrapolated and compared to Paniz and Hamza colonial experiences.
