Shaykh Omar Hedroug is a distinguished Islamic scholar and educator, currently serving as the full-time Youth Director at the Islamic Center of Naperville (ICN) in Illinois. Born in Kalamazoo, Michigan, and raised in Chicago, he attended the Islamic Foundation School in Villa Park. He later pursued a Pre-Med track at Benedictine University, where he also began his journey in Islamic studies under various local scholars. While in college, Shaykh Omar was accepted as a scholarship student at the Islamic University of Madinah. There, he completed an Associate’s Degree in the Arabic language and a Bachelor’s Degree from the College of Shariah, graduating with the highest honors from the faculty of Islamic Law. During his time in Madinah, he also attended classes at the Prophet’s Mosque, studying various Islamic sciences. Upon returning to Chicago, Shaykh Omar has been actively involved in youth education and community development. In addition to his role at ICN, he serves as an instructor for AlMaghrib Institute, where he teaches courses on Islamic law and spirituality. He is also involved with Faith Insight, contributing to educational programs and seminars aimed at fostering Islamic knowledge and understanding. Shaykh Omar’s dedication to Islamic education and youth mentorship continues to inspire and guide the Muslim community in the Chicago area and beyond.
