003: Lack of Black Representation in Nursing and its Effect on Healthcare

Nursing like many profession in the US has a serious problem with representation of minorities, especially African Americans. With over 4 million Registered Nurses in the United States the percentage that are African American is shameful! Why in this day and age and century there is such lack of representation in this profession. Let's not forget the advance practice nursing career, there is a huge shortage of minorities, because if we cannot get our foot in the door to start the journey as nurses we definitely will not be able to advance within this wonderful, rewarding profession. In this episode I am sharing with you my experience as a nursing student as well as a nurse working in hospitals in the critical care area as sometimes the only minority. 002: Is Nursing the right choice? Why Nursing Might Not Be For You!

Nursing has become more hyped over the last year, especially with the pandemic and many are questioning whether or not they should take the plunge and go into nursing. But are you becoming a nurse for the right reasons? I am sharing some times if you are considering becoming a nurse on why it just might not be for you. Nursing has so many layers and often times many have no clue what we really do a daily basis. If you are considering nursing I hope it is for the right reasons and not because of why hype. I am not discouraging you from becoming a nurse but I do want Our Future Nurses to be ones who truly want to be in the space of Nursing.

001: Not Smart Enough for Nursing: How I went from almost failing Nursing School to becoming a Nurse Practitioner

I was always my worst enemy and biggest critic, I always told myself I was not smart enough, I never felt I was smart enough for anything academically, let alone nursing. In todays episode, I am sharing my nursing journey! how I went from almost failing out of nursing school to obtaining my BSN and then my MSN. I have had so many failures in this nursing journey, from failing the initial NET to failing a nursing class. It's been a very long journey for me, one that I had to dig deep within my self reassuring me that I AM SMART ENOUGH!
