FIRST LOVE | Love Under Pressure

June 28, 2026 -- Smyrna is suffering. They are poor, slandered, threatened, and under crushing pressure. Yet Jesus offers no correction to this church. He tells them that he knows their tribulation, that their suffering is not hidden from him, and that death will not have the final word. The call is not escape, but faithfulness. In Smyrna, love is tested by suffering, fear, and loss but Jesus, the one who died and came to life, promises the crown of life.

The book is not first a puzzle to solve or a timeline to decode; it is an unveiling of Christ. It shows us that reality is deeper than what we can see with our eyes. Beneath suffering, fear, evil, compromise, and confusion, Jesus is present and reigning. This first sermon sets the lens for the whole series: the church can only hear Jesus rightly when it sees him clearly.
