About Refracted Light

Refracted Light is a podcast dedicated to discussing the good, the true, and the beautiful, displayed in the world. The name comes from Tolkien's essay, On Fairy-Stories, which describes humanity as a sub-creator whose stories all ultimately come from a single Author. Your host, Timothy Nargi, is a photographer, an amateur historian, and Inklings enthusiast, seeking to share such stories.

My good friend and colleague Ben Andrus and I discuss an essay about adapting The Lord of The Rings to the big screen. The essay was written by Tolkien scholar Tom Shippey and is entitled Tolkien and Jackson: Book to Script. Ben and I get into the differences between the written page and the visual screen, nuances of translating work from one medium to the other, and even briefly discuss The Rings of Power.
