Description

From Rogue Reviews, this is Rogue Bites - where we break down the latest films and TV in minutes. In this Rogue Bite, we get into: - Plan 9 from Outer Space (1958): Gary stumbled upon this cult classic by director Ed Wood on Prime Video. The story is crazy; UFOs are flying around, aliens are resurrecting humans as vampires, and it’s all happening in a Hollywood cemetery. The movie is rubbish but in the most entertaining way. You can watch the original black and white version or a colourized version. - The Vast of Night (2019): David enjoyed watching this low-budget award winning, indie film on Prime Video. It’s a well-made movie and tells the story of a 1950s switchboard operator and radio DJ who start hearing a strange signal over a radio frequency. A homage to the Golden Age of sci-fi movies. - Citadel (Season 1): Two global spy agencies come to blows. An over-the-top action thriller about super spies turns out to be a lot of fun with some nice twists and characters arcs. Available on Prime Video. Don’t forget, for deeper dives and full discussions, catch the main Rogue Reviews episodes every Friday. Rogue Reviews is produced by Urban Podcasts [urbanpodcasts.co.uk]. Masters of the Universe (2026) - a camp comedic return to Eternia

Directed by Travis Knight, this live-action fantasy adventure brings the iconic 80s toy line and cartoon back to the big screen. The story follows Adam (Nicholas Galitzine), a young man living on Earth who must return to his home planet of Eternia to save it from the evil sorcerer Skeletor (Jared Leto). To do so, he must embrace his destiny as He-Man, the most powerful man in the universe. The film also stars Camila Mendes, Idris Elba, Alison Brie, James Purefoy, and Morena Baccarin. We discuss how the film successfully balances its inherent silliness with a modern comedic tone, why Jared Leto's campy performance as Skeletor steals the show, and whether this new adaptation manages to capture the nostalgic magic of the original Saturday morning cartoon. Rogue Bites: Starcrash and Spider-Noir

From Rogue Reviews, this is Rogue Bites - where we break down the latest films and TV in minutes. In this Rogue Bite, we get into: - Starcrash (1978): This movie is rubbish. However, its so bad it’s good. You can watch this 1970s low-budget sci-fi disaster unfold on Prime Video, complete with dodgy spaceships, whacky robots, mind-bending special effects and a story so bonkers it might just brighten up your day. - Spider-Noir (Season 1): David really enjoyed this series on Prime Video about a down-on-his-luck private investigator in 1930s New York. Grappling with his past life and a personal tragedy, Ben Reilly is reluctantly draw into a confrontation he would rather avoid. episode Backrooms (2026) - exploring subliminal space artwork

Backrooms (2026) - exploring subliminal space

Directed by 20-year-old Kane Parsons in his feature-length debut, this psychological sci-fi horror expands upon his viral YouTube web series. The story follows Clark (Chiwetel Ejiofor), a furniture store owner who discovers a seemingly endless dimension of liminal spaces in his basement. Alongside his therapist Mary (Renate Reinsve), he descends into a labyrinth of unsettling, yellow-wallpapered rooms that defy reality. The film also stars Mark Duplass, Finn Bennett, and Lukita Maxwell. In this episode of Rogue Reviews, we are joined by Matt Hillier, our first ever guest on the show. We discuss the rising trend of YouTubers making the leap to feature filmmaking, how the film successfully trades cheap jump scares for genuine atmospheric discomfort, and why its ambiguous, dream-like logic works in its favour.
