Young Carers: Creating a Fairer Future with Eden and Amy
What could a fair future look like for young carers UK-wide? What progress is already underway? Eden, a student and young carer in Northern Ireland is joined by fellow young carer Amy. Sharing stories of caring for siblings, they reflect on what “fair” would look like to them, and how the “mental load” of caring must be a political, not simply personal or private, concern. They’re also joined by Dominic Carter, Director of Policy & Public Affairs at the Carers Trust. He reflects on positive trends in new research, the importance of involving young carers in research that has an impact on them, and the value of events such as Young Carers Action Day. Plus: change doesn’t come through policy alone. So, what can we all do, right now, to support young carers? A rallying and hopeful conversation about where best practice and positive change lie.
