K-State Research and Extension and 4-H adult volunteers will be among millions of volunteers recognized for their contributions during National Volunteer Week, April 20-26, 2025. National Volunteer Week is about recognizing the work of volunteers nationwide who give their time, talent, and energy to improve the quality of life for others.
Volunteers are a fantastic resource when we look hours given and the value of that time. According to 2023 data from Independent Sector [https://independentsector.org/], the value of volunteer time in Kansas is $29.69 per hour. Independent Sector calculates the value of an hour of volunteer time based on hourly earnings for private non-farm and non-managerial occupations, plus a 15.7% increase for the value of fringe benefits.
