'Do not be afraid' - 12th Sunday in Ordinary Time (Year A)

In Matthew 10, we hear Christ's repeated command to his disciples: "Do not be afraid." These are not words spoken to people living comfortable lives. Jesus sends his followers out as sheep among wolves, warning them of opposition, rejection, persecution, and even death. Drawing together the witness of the prophet Jeremiah, St Paul's teaching in Romans, and Jesus's own words in Matthew's Gospel, Fr Morrison explores why Christians need not fear those who can kill the body but cannot touch the soul when we are children of an all-powerful and loving God.
