The API Experience: Episode 1 - API JET's Struggle with Various Experiences.

Moving to Japan was a big challenge for her to step out of her comfort zone. Noelle is a 4th year ALT (Assistant Language Teacher) in the JET Program. She is also one of two API AJET National Representatives. She moved to Japan in the summer of 2019. After her first year as a municipal JET in the countryside of Japan, she was transferred to Ibaraki Board of Education as a prefectural JET. Noelle discusses her own API experiences, as well as the support differences between two different Boards of Education. This newly created podcast will consist of interviews with actual API ALTs and CIRs from English teaching programs, such as the JET Programme and Interac!  With this podcast we will be covering the unique, but often unspoken, experiences of APIs living in Japan.  This podcast is created with support from the Asian Pacific Islander Association for Japan Exchange and Teaching also known as API AJET.  API AJET strives to provide peer support for the English-speaking Asian Pacific Islander community in Japan, as well as raising local and global awareness about the diverse range of issues that this community faces.
