About Conditioning to Consciousness

Conditioning to Consciousness explores the journey from inherited conditioning to embodied awareness — honoring personal healing as a catalyst for collective transformation. It’s for those peeling back layers of stress, people-pleasing, burnout, and self-silencing — and learning how to reclaim autonomy, self-trust, and purpose in a world shaped by systems that keep us disconnected from our bodies and intuition.Hosted by Jess Callahan, this podcast blends thoughtful conversations with experts and change-makers alongside solo episodes informed by personal healing, post-graduate studies in transpersonal psychology and consciousness, and years of study in nervous system regulation, intuition, astrology, and somatic awareness. Each episode connects back to five core pillars of healing and awakening:Nervous system regulationDeconditioning the mindReconnecting with intuitionSelf-discoveryIntegration and embodimentRather than bypassing hard truths, Conditioning to Consciousness approaches healing through compassion, curiosity, and grounded awareness — recognizing that personal healing ripples outward into collective change. When even a small percentage of people elevate their consciousness, the world around them begins to shift. This podcast is for cycle-breakers, system-seers, creatives, and deep feelers who are doing the real work — not to fix themselves, but to remember who they are beneath everything they learned to survive.Just because the systems are broken doesn’t mean we have to be.------------------This podcast has evolved and was formerly published under the name The Becoming You Project.

47. When Life Leads the Way: Synchronicities, Yoga, and Purpose with Lindsay Helt

Send us Fan Mail [https://www.buzzsprout.com/2522110/fan_mail/new] What if the moments that quietly lead you to your purpose are also the easiest ones to say yes to?  Lindsay Helt didn't join the gym to transform her life. She was looking for childcare at a gym and some relief from the hard days of early motherhood. But that one small yes set off a chain of events that led to two thriving yoga studios, a community built on real connection, and a life that was never part of the plan.  In this episode, Lindsay gets honest about the years before it clicked. The purposelessness, the bouncing, and the weight of motherhood hitting harder than she expected. And then an unexpected encounter with yoga changed everything.  In this conversation, we talk about the difference between forcing a path and following a thread, the micro decisions that quietly change everything, how teacher training through COVID cracked her open, and how Wild & Free Power Yoga came together through a series of moments that have synchronicity written all over them.  We also talk about the practice of yoga itself - how it so often finds you instead of the other way around, the importance of the pause in leveling our reactivity, and how a supportive community makes all the difference.  Find Lindsay online at https://www.wildandfreepoweryoga.com/ and on Instagram at @wildandfree_poweryoga If this episode spoke to you, it would mean the world if you took a moment to leave a review or share it with a friend who needs it. episode 46. Spirit-Led Artwork Turns Intuition Into Magic with Delana Luna artwork

46. Spirit-Led Artwork Turns Intuition Into Magic with Delana Luna

Send us Fan Mail [https://www.buzzsprout.com/2522110/fan_mail/new] Something strange happens when a piece of art feels like it already belongs to someone you have never met. I sit down with Delana, an artist joining me from Sweden and the creator behind the Museum of Magical Objects, to talk about spirit-led artwork and the real-world process of making “magical objects” that are meant to be used, not just admired. We trace how her path moved from academic work into a practice shaped by ancestral magic, symbolism, and a creative method called superficction: writing and visual craft combined to create artifact-like pieces that push the mind into questioning what’s true. That push-and-pull is not a gimmick. It can create a genuine shift in perception, the kind that opens new pathways for insight, healing, and choice. Then we slow down and get practical about the clair senses: clairvoyance, clairaudience, clairsentience, and claircognizance. We talk about what they feel like, why so many people crave “seeing” as proof, and how self-trust is the real muscle behind intuitive development. From there, we connect the dots to the bigger picture: how capitalism and productivity culture flatten sensitivity, numb empathy, and train us to look outside ourselves for answers. Delana shares what it looks like to create commissions, to recognize talismanic materials, and to follow spirit messages as they unfold into objects like bind runes, rune sets, and even activation meditations designed for liminal and dream-space work. We also talk about energetic exchange, why giving spiritual labor away can drain the work, and why sacred tools should feel like heirlooms, not disposable purchases. If you’ve been craving a grounded conversation about intuition, spiritual creativity, and what it means to make art that functions as a tool, hit play. Subscribe, share this with a friend who’s waking up to their sensitivity, and leave a review with your favorite takeaway: which clair sense do you rely on most? episode 45. The Invisible Stress Kids Carry artwork

45. The Invisible Stress Kids Carry

Send us Fan Mail [https://www.buzzsprout.com/2522110/fan_mail/new] Even if we don't mean to do it, we're constantly telling kids that their emotions, their stress, their experiences are wrong. That they should just get over it. Then we act surprised when they shut down, melt down, or check out.  In this solo episode, I pick up a thread from a recent conversation about Gen Z and Gen Alpha and go deeper into what overwhelm actually looks like in a child’s body: overstimulation, unprocessed emotion, and the subtle ways adults teach kids to distrust their own feelings. It's a reflection of personal experience raising kids who are late elementary school and early middle school -- the reality of environmental overwhelm and constant overstimulation, witnessing our own conditioning and what we're passing on, and the role of what we're carrying from the generations who came before us.  Also in this episode:  * The concept of high sensitivity and why “more time to process” can be a genuine need, not a weakness.  * A translation of “energy and vibration” into plain language with examples like resonance, and we call out spiritual bypassing that skips the hard work of feeling and integrating. * School systems that still reward compliance over self-trust.  * And perhaps most importantly -- what to do next, with two practical starting points you can try right away: invite more pauses into family life and get comfortable having the uncomfortable conversations that build resilient, emotionally honest kids. If this resonates, subscribe so you don’t miss the next conversations, share this with a parent or teacher who needs it, and leave a review with the biggest stressor you think adults are overlooking. If this episode spoke to you, it would mean the world if you took a moment to leave a review or share it with a friend who needs it. episode 45. Raising Emotionally Alive Kids with Rashad Young artwork

45. Raising Emotionally Alive Kids with Rashad Young

Send us Fan Mail [https://www.buzzsprout.com/2522110/fan_mail/new] We talk a lot on this show about how emotional suppression gets conditioned into us. But what about the generation living in the aftermath of everything we've built — and everything we've passed down? This episode is about kids. Specifically, why we keep calling Gen Z lazy when what they actually are is overwhelmed, overstimulated, and emotionally under-resourced in a world that was already broken before they got here. I sat down with Rashad — school counselor, speaker, and therapist in training — for one of the most grounding conversations I've had on this show. We talk about what emotional safety actually looks like in real life. Not in theory. In your home, in your relationships, in a classroom full of teenagers who have never been taught to answer the question: who are you to you? We cover why men get trained out of vulnerability early, why women get punished for expressing emotion at all, and how jumping into solution mode — however well-intentioned — can quietly shut someone down. Rashad breaks down what it actually means to stay present with someone who is struggling, and why removing your ego is the prerequisite for any real repair. Then we zoom out. Gen Z and Gen Alpha are navigating nonstop dopamine loops, post-COVID nervous systems, social media comparison, economic anxiety, and a future that feels stacked against them before they've even started. Lazy isn't the right word. Burned out before adulthood is closer. But there is hope here. Real hope — not the performative kind. This conversation is full of it. If you are a parent, a teacher, a partner, or anyone who loves a young person and wants to do better by them, this one is for you. About Rashad Rashad is a school counselor, speaker, and therapist in training who has dedicated his work to helping young people feel seen, safe, and emotionally equipped for the world they're navigating. He works on the front lines of the youth mental health crisis every day — in classrooms, hallways, and one-on-one conversations that most adults never get to witness. His approach is grounded, practical, and deeply human. episode 44. What If Our Health Crisis Starts With Unfelt Emotions? artwork

44. What If Our Health Crisis Starts With Unfelt Emotions?

Send us Fan Mail [https://www.buzzsprout.com/2522110/fan_mail/new] If you’ve ever told yourself “I’m fine” while your body keeps tightening, buzzing, or breaking down, you already understand the problem we’re naming today: emotional suppression. We’re stepping back from the noise of modern life to look at a pattern baked into American conditioning and why it may be a hidden driver behind the chronic illness epidemic. I've been diving into the research, and once you see it, it's hard to unsee.  We connect the dots between childhood rules about emotions and adult health outcomes. When anger, grief, and even joy get shut down, the nervous system doesn’t magically reset because our thoughts say it should. We walk through the stress mechanism: sympathetic activation, cortisol and adrenaline, and what happens when the stress cycle never completes. From there, we explore the research links discussed around chronic stress, heart disease, hypertension, obesity, type 2 diabetes, autoimmune conditions, chronic pain and fibromyalgia, and the provocative findings tying suppressed anger and emotional non-expression to cancer progression. This is not about blaming individuals for getting sick; it’s about finally naming a factor that too often gets ignored in public health conversations.  We also talk about why women can be uniquely impacted, how “feminine rage” builds when anger is punished or buried, and what it looks like to start rebuilding emotional literacy as a practical skill. If you’re tired of white-knuckling your way through triggers and stress, this offers a clearer map of what’s happening inside your body and why feeling your feelings can be real preventive healthcare. Subscribe for more, share this with someone who needs it, and leave a review telling us what emotion you’re ready to stop suppressing. En fantastisk app med et enormt stort udvalg af spændende podcasts. Podimo formår virkelig at lave godt indhold, der takler de lidt mere svære emner. At der så også er lydbøger oveni til en billig pris, gør at det er blevet min favorit app.
