Episode 13 - Emily and the Love Bomb Loneliness

Today our guest is Emily, a 23yr old student living in Austin, TX who has recently found her way out of a once-promising relationship.  Once she choses someone, Emily’s love is sincere and full. However, in her recent relationship, she experienced an initial overwhelming barrage of love signals from her partner only to have that attention and validation sharply decline once she made the move to live with her partner.  Emily teaches us about the dangers of the up-front love-bomb and how to look for signs of insecurities and emotional instability in a new relationship. She reminds us that the packaging does not always match the product, that it is important to wade into getting to know someone gradually while making sure both of you feel validated and heard.  It can be heartbreaking to find yourself in a relationship where you start off in limerence and then it fades. What do you do? What happens when conversation and validation sharply decline? What happens when your person takes away the attention after flooding you with affection initially? Emily tells her story and shares her truth on this episode and invites us to come along with her as she re-examines her experience.

Episode 12 - Kaden and the Red Pill Rejection

Today’s guest is Kaden, a 25yr old self-taught computer engineer who grew up in a small town in Alaska before moving to Austin, TX in his early 20s.  Lately, Kaden stumbled across an online group that believes they are the powerless victims of a brutal dating culture and that the only strategy is not to play, but in the end he rejects these groups and remembers his deep desire for intimacy and mutual companionship. Kaden shares with us the confusion that many of us feel when trying to navigate love and the inner questions of “why am I not enough for this person,” “why do I feel overlooked by all the ‘good’ partner options,” and “should I just give up and resign to me being alone and that being enough?”  Through his journey through opening up his marriage in his early 20s, closing out his marriage in a crushing divorce, and desire to make sense of the seemingly senseless world of modern dating, Kaden shows us that our desire to find patterns in the world, to understand the why of being alone or frustrated can sometimes overshadow the deeper and harder questions of “how can I be less afraid,” and “is it wrong to just want to love someone and be loved?”  The answer? Listen with us as we discuss those very questions.

August 23rd, 2020 Today we visit with Stephanie, or Krimmie, as her friends and family call her.  Krimmie shares with us her stories of attempting to navigate the labyrinth of online dating  as she continues to run into dead ends and dead beats.  From deceptions to dingle picks, Krimmie reminds us of the difficult struggle to find a true companion, but also of the incredible worth and value that the right person can have in our lives.
