Episode 10: RIDLEY SCOTT

In anticipation of Gladiator 2 starring the one and only Paul Mescal, we delve into two varied Ridley Scott classics. The original GLADIATOR and BLADE RUNNER, two epic flawed projects that share little more than their ambition. As always, we also start off with what we've been watching lately, and end up disagreeing on the latest Quiet Place movie. In true Ridley Scott fashion, this episode runs a little long so we hope you enjoy!

From the fly on the wall style HONEYLAND to Agnes Varda's seminal self-reflexive documentary THE GLEANERS AND I, we talk documentaries this month. Plus some musings on the Hunger Games franchise, Challengers, and Netflix series Ripley at the top of the show.

Episode 8: CRIME MYSTERY

Hello to all of you fine pheasants, we're back with another episode exploring the various sub-genres within the crime / mystery film. We tackle Howard Hawks' classic 1946 film noir THE BIG SLEEP and a more recent Spanish twisty crime thriller THE BODY (El cuerpo). We also dig into Josh O'Connor's presence in a pair of new cinema releases and tease some future episode ideas at the end!

Join us as we don't see eye to eye on Wong Kar-wai's masterpiece IN THE MOOD FOR LOVE and delightfully pair it with British romcom classic NOTTING HILL. A Criterion collection gem and a Richard Curtis flick, what better couple of romance films could you want?

Episode 6: MOVIES WITHIN MOVIES

This show we finally cover a Pedro Almodóvar film, BAD EDUCATION, and pair it rather bizarrely with the 1990s studio comedy BOWFINGER. Two movies about movies and the making of them but also so much more. Listen in for that and of course a little talk about the Oscar nominations too.
