Episode 24: The Junky Closet

In this Episode of the Golden Hour Podcast: Enlightenment Edition, The Lord used me as a vessel to deliver this message to you. Spiritual Spring Cleaning – Confronting Hidden Clutter in Our Lives In this powerful 7-minute reflection, I Kristen invites listeners into a metaphorical “closet” — the inner space where we store emotional baggage, unspoken fears, and spiritual neglect. Drawing from her signature blend of faith-rooted wisdom and practical insight, she explores how cluttered hearts hinder divine alignment and legacy building. Key Message Just as we avoid opening a messy closet, we often resist confronting the spiritual and emotional messes tucked away in our lives. But healing begins with honesty. God doesn’t shame us for the junk; GOD invites us to surrender it. Scripture References: * Isaiah 1:18 – “Come now, and let us reason together, saith the Lord: though your sins be as scarlet, they shall be as white as snow…” God’s invitation to cleanse and restore, no matter how messy our inner closet may be. * Psalm 139:23–24 – “Search me, O God, and know my heart: try me, and know my thoughts…” A prayerful posture of vulnerability, asking God to reveal hidden clutter. * Hebrews 12:1 – “Let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us…” Encouragement to release burdens that hinder our spiritual walk. * John 15:2 – “Every branch in me that beareth not fruit he taketh away…” A reminder that pruning, even painful, is part of divine refinement. * * Proverbs 4:23 – “Keep thy heart with all diligence; for out of it are the issues of life.” The heart is the closet of our soul, what we store there shapes our legacy. * Psalm 51:18 - " May it please you to prosper Zion, to build up the walls of Jerusalem." Reflection Questions: * What emotional or spiritual clutter have you been avoiding? * How might surrendering your “junk” make room for God’s peace and purpose? * What does your closet say about your readiness for legacy? We all have a “junky closet," that hidden space in our hearts where we’ve stashed away pain, unforgiveness, fear, and spiritual neglect. It’s easier to shut the door and pretend it’s not there. But God sees it. And more importantly, He wants access to it. Healing begins with honesty. The clutter we try to hide doesn’t scare God. He’s not coming to condemn us. Although some condemnation may come. He’s coming to restore us. Psalm 51:8 is a cry for joy to return after brokenness. It’s the sound of crushed bones learning to dance again. And Psalm 51:18 shifts the focus from personal healing to communal rebuilding. Once our hearts are cleansed, God begins to fortify the legacy, not just for us, but for those we’re called to impact. Just as we avoid opening a messy closet, we often resist confronting the spiritual and emotional messes tucked away in our lives. Healing begins with honesty. God doesn’t shame us for the junk; GOD invites us to surrender it. Opening the closet is an act of courage. It’s saying, “God, I trust You with my mess.” And in that surrender, He begins to rebuild — brick by brick, wall by wall — the spiritual Jerusalem within us. Prayer: Lord, I give You access to the places I’ve kept hidden. As we know we can't hide anything from you, so I am humbly coming before you asking to be cleansed. I ask in the name of Jesus that you help us clean out the clutter, in our lives and Restore our joy. Lead us to rebuild the legacy, you have gifted us. As everything we have is from you, and GOD we know that you don't lack, your perfect, and we are the ones who aren't so we need you Lord. Let our healing become a testimony for others to stand firm within you, and to seek you and you're glory. In the name of Jesus I pray, Amen. Action Step: Write down three things you’ve been avoiding, emotional, relational, or spiritual. Invite God to help you clean them out this week. Don’t rush. Just open the door.
