Season two opens with something new: hearing directly from the kids. Abi and Alex welcome Helena — Alex’s eldest daughter — to talk about life inside a blended family, just as she heads off to university. From finding out her mum was pregnant again, to navigating two homes, to calling her stepdad “Matty,” Helena reflects on what it means to grow up through change, loyalty, and love. This episode is all about listening: how children experience divorce, step-parents, and siblings — and why giving them a voice matters more than anything.

September Syndrome: Chaos, Cones & Compromises

Back to school, back to chaos. In this episode, we're returning to routine - sort of. We chat about starting school again, the admin overload that comes with big families, and how even the smallest traditions (like a sugar cone full of sweets) help everyone feel grounded again. Abi shares a tough decision about rehoming their rescue dog, how that affected the kids, and what it's like supporting a neurodivergent child through the storm of September. There's school photos, cereal negotiations, a few meltdowns (some from the adults), and a lot of reflection on what it takes to keep blended families moving forward.
