Renee Hastings has been working since she was old enough to hold a job, and she has never once slowed down. She had her son young. People made assumptions about how that story was going to end. She decided they were wrong, and then she spent years proving it, picking up skills, taking on more, getting better at the thing in front of her, and building something of her own. Today she is the President and CEO of Executive Help Now, a virtual assistance agency that handles administrative support, video and podcast production, and business consulting for entrepreneurs, content creators, and corporate executives. In other words, she gives people their lives back. We talked about a lot in this one. We talked about what it costs to be underestimated because of your age or your race or where you started, and why the fix is not a program or a policy but a decision to look at a person and actually see them. We talked about work-life balance, which sounds like a buzzword until you meet someone doing it on purpose. And we talked about the thing most of us are terrible at, which is letting go.
