Townie

A year after a friendship break up, Declan and Amir find that maybe they haven’t changed as much as they thought when Declan shows up to Amir’s secret hiding place: a barn on a secluded hill. Despite not wanting to be together, Declan is hurt and Amir can’t bear to go home to his dysfunctional mother, so they both have to wait it out. After the initial shock of seeing him, Amir realizes that Declan is seriously hurt: he has a stab wound. He nurses Declan’s wound while airing out some of his own. An exploration of the fragility of adolescent friendships, emotional neglect, and simply getting older, the boys help each other survive the night.
