Love Part I: Certitude

In which your host comes over all Gallic and recites a poem en français in honour of St Valentine's Day. Paul Éluard was a French poet and one of the founders of the Surrealist movement. He lived a complicated life marked by sickness and war, but succeeded in producing a great many well-loved poems. 'Certitude' is a simple ode to romantic love, made all the meltier in its native tongue. A crude, experimental reading from a non-French speaker, to be sure, but as the saying goes: "On ne fait pas d'omelette sans casser d'œufs!" Living in Colour

In which your host pays tribute to the musical genius of the late Scott Hutchison. Formed in Selkirk, Scotland, in 2003, Frightened Rabbit expanded their lineup from brothers Scott and Grant to a formidable five-piece indie outfit whose raw, idiosyncratic lyrics and rich melodies garnered fans across the globe. Following the release of their fifth studio album, Scott, who had suffered from depression for many years, took his own life on the 9th of May, 2018. He lives on in his remarkable body of work, and in the hearts of Frabbits the world over who were blessed by his gifts.  "So let the hurt run down the drain to the reservoir / and one day I'll add a drop of my own worries to a dram." In which your host gets Psalty over King David's most famous meditation: "The Lord Is My Shepherd" (Latin: "Dominus regit me").  Used in both Jewish and Christian liturgies, it is perhaps the best-known of the psalms due to its universal message of trust in God, and its simplicity. The Lake Isle of Innisfree

In which your host recites the classic poem 'The Lake Isle of Innisfree' by W.B. Yeats. First published in 1890, it is said to exemplify the Celtic Revival style of verse.
