Being Called Lame in Locker Room

SCENARIO 13 – Loving God When It Looks “Lame” Every athlete who follows Christ eventually faces this moment. Friends start making jokes. They say you’re: • “too spiritual” • “too serious” • “missing out” • “not fun anymore” Choosing God over parties, hookups, and popularity can make you stand out in ways that feel uncomfortable. In this scenario from The Perfect Athlete Devotional, we break down what’s happening internally: Your soul begins to question itself: “Maybe I’m doing too much.” “Why can’t I just be normal?” “I’m tired of being judged.” Your flesh wants validation from people: • people-pleasing • blending in • shrinking back • hiding your convictions But your spirit reminds you of something powerful: • your identity is in Christ • your calling is greater than approval • obedience matters more than popularity • fear of God matters more than fear of people Following God will not always be popular. But faithfulness builds leadership. The athletes who stand firm in their convictions become the ones others eventually respect. Loving God might not always look “cool” to people — but it is powerful in heaven. And your consistency will influence more people than you realize. episode GAME 66 – Work For God, Not People artwork

GAME 66 – Work For God, Not People

GAME 66 – Work For God, Not People One of the most dangerous motivations for athletes is applause. When athletes work for attention, praise, or recognition, their effort becomes inconsistent. They work hard when people are watching and relax when nobody is. But Colossians 3:22–23 teaches something deeper: “Whatever you do, do it heartily, as to the Lord and not to men.” This principle changes everything. When athletes work for people: • they burn out quickly • they chase validation • they fear criticism • they lose motivation when praise disappears But when athletes work for God: • their effort becomes consistent • their discipline becomes worship • their preparation becomes purpose • their training becomes stewardship This devotional challenges athletes to shift their motivation from people’s approval to God’s honor. Because when you work for God, your standards stay high whether anyone is watching or not. Your effort becomes an offering. Your discipline becomes devotion. Your preparation becomes worship. Comment “FOR GOD” if you’re choosing to work for His approval. Subscribe for daily devotionals and athlete mindset training. episode GAME 65 – Overtime Exposes Who Has More Strength - Proverbs 12:24 artwork

GAME 65 – Overtime Exposes Who Has More Strength - Proverbs 12:24

GAME 65 – Overtime Exposes Who Has More Strength When the game goes into overtime, talent is no longer enough. Overtime reveals preparation. It exposes who trained longer, who conditioned harder, who stayed disciplined when nobody was watching. In today’s Perfect Athlete Devotional, Proverbs 12:24 says: “The hand of the diligent will rule.” Diligence is what separates athletes who fade from athletes who rise when pressure increases. Overtime strength comes from what you did when nobody saw: • extra conditioning • extra skill work • extra film study • extra prayer • extra discipline • extra recovery • extra commitment The athletes who work in the unseen moments show up differently in the seen moments. This devotional challenges athletes to choose one area this week where they will go beyond what is required. Because when pressure increases, preparation becomes visible. If you want to dominate overtime moments in your sport, your preparation has to exceed average. Comment “EXTRA WORK” if you're committing to go beyond the minimum.
