Department (MPD), severely beat Tyre Nichols, a 29-year-old Black man, during a traffic stop. On Jan 10, Mr Nichols succumbed to his injures. On 27 Jan, body camera footage from the police officers who arrested Mr Nichols was released one day after all five police officers were charged with second-degree murder in relation to his death.
