The Fire Gathering of Girls

Mary Dezember [https://marydezember.com/] reads her poems " Wild Conviction Epigraph: Poem 1" and "Poetry within the story: Poems 2-4" from her novel, Wild Conviction. Mary is an award-winning author of stories and poetry as portals to possibilities. While earning her Ph.D. in Comparative Literature at Indiana University, she directed the Runcible Spoon Poetry Series. Professor Emeritus of English at New Mexico Tech, Mary was awarded a writer’s residency at the Historic Santa Fe Foundation in 2025. Her books include Earth-Marked Like You (Published by Sunstone Press), Still Howling (CreateSpace Independent Publishing), and Wild Conviction, (Brilliant Moon Press). The poems Mary reads on this edition of the Poets Weave are from her novel, Wild Conviction. Gold Winner of the 2024 Human Relations Indie Book Awards, Historical Realistic Fiction.

Wolf Tours

Writer Alyse Knorr reads from her book Wolf Tours, a surrealist novel-in-verse: “Day One,” “Wolf Tours Rules,” “Hunting Lesson,” and “Gratuity Not Included.” Alyse [https://alysejoy.wixsite.com/alyseknorr] is the author of six poetry collections and two video game history books. Her lyrics have been performed at Carnegie Hall and her poetry is permanently installed on a wall of the New York City Public Library's East Harlem branch. She serves as an associate professor of English at Regis University.

Antonia Matthew grew up in England during World War II and has lived in Bloomington, Indiana since 1968. She has been a member of the writing group "Five Women Poets" since 1974, which has published three chapbooks and one CD. She has published a chapbook, Journey, and written a play, Antonia’s Home Front, a transatlantic audio theater co-production of Political Art, London and the Writers Guild of Bloomington. It premiered on WFHB’s Fireside Theatre, October 9th, 2022. Antonia is a member of the Bloomington Writers Guild.
