His innovative approach weaves together Jungian Psychology, Drama Therapy, and Anthropology, creating powerful frameworks for transformation. From guiding rites of passage to implementing Social Artistry with diverse communities worldwide, Brian demonstrates how embodied practices foster personal and collective healing. Arupa Tesolin | The Quotidian Podcast | Ep. 26

Arupa Tesolin [https://intuita.com/author-arupa-tesolin/] learned from an early age how her creative and intuitive powers deeply affected the way she was able to be in the world. With powerful experiences of integrated somatic and intuitive presence as her guide, she has written books and even created software to help afford others the experience of these innate creative gifts, which she believes (as do all of us here at the quotidian) are our natural birthright. Arupa is the creator of Intuita Mindware, and she's one of the leading voices for intuition in business today. She is an insightful and articulate, well-published author, consultant, speaker, and facilitator. She wrote the book Ting! The Surprising Power of Intuition to Transform Work & Innovate [https://intuita.com/ting-book-2018/], is a story that explores the relationship between authenticity and intuition. Her lifelong passion for the creative process led to a personal quest to find an explanation that better reflects the true nature of our relationship with the creative universe. The Quotidian Ep. 25 | Ethan Kobayashi–Hsieh, Pt. 1

This week I'm speaking with the theater performer, director and teacher Ethan Kobayashi-Hsieh. Ethan is the creator of TIAMAT, which stands for The Integrative Approach and Methodology of Active Transformation. Put succinctly, Ethan's work uses theater as the means for practitioners to create an embodied, multi-perspectival awareness of themselves as applies to a robust search for meaning and purpose. I first encountered his work through the podcast of cognitive scientist and professor John Vervaeke. I immediately saw parallels to my own theories about theater as a pathway toward individuation: Jung's term for the process of intense self discovery and meaning making. Both Ethan and John's work has proven inspirational and I reached out to Ethan and began a conversation. This led to our recording what you're about to see which lasted nearly two hours. I'm breaking the episode in two for ease of digestion. We get in to the nuts and bolts of how theater is uniquely suited as an ecology of practice and it's immediacy of effect. Ethan also explores deeper aspects of his work as relates to Vervaeke's theories of meaning making. The Quotidian is produced by carolinacommons.org and is dedicated to exploring and celebrating the creative energy of the human spirit. If you like what you're seeing and hearing, let us know. Thanks for being here, and please enjoy this dialogue with the hyper intelligent, ebullient and effervescent Ethan Kobayashi-Hsieh. * Theme Music * The Colours of Chlöe * Written & Performed by Eberhard Weber * Used by arrangement with ECM Records * * Incidental music from Epidemic Sound * Copyright ©2023 www.carolinacommons.org [http://www.carolinacommons.org]

episode The Quotidian Ep. 24 – Mike Hanas artwork

The Quotidian Ep. 24 – Mike Hanas

My guest today is the executive coach, Mike Hanas. Before his career in leadership coaching, Mike was the head of school at the Carolina Friends School in Durham, NC, the San Franscisco Friends School, and has thrived in education since 1985. He received his masters in Administration, planning and social policy from the Harvard Graduate School of Education, and most recently earned his certification at the Berkely Executive Coaching Institute. Mike began his coaching practice, Furthering Leadership in 2018, emphasizing conflict resolution and consilience in his work with individuals and teams. As the Quotidian Podcast begins to turn toward the learning, coaching, and leadership space, I was particularly curious to hear Mike's thoughts on post-covid leadership trends, how Quaker pedagogy intersects with his practice, and what is both most needed and requested from his clients. We spoke about those topics, as well as what Mike's work has in common with Ken Kesey and the Merry Pranksters. Mike is a thoughtful, earnest, and compassionate leader to whom I look as an example of holding space for meaningful and inclusive cultural transformation. The Quotidian Podcast is produced by Carolina Commons whose mission is to help individuals, teams, and communities engage their creative energies for personal and professional growth.
