She believed she could, so she did

In this episode of The Rabbit Hole, we’re unpacking one of the most iconic motivational quotes of the internet era: “She believed she could, so she did.” You’ve seen it on mugs. T-shirts. Instagram graphics in millennial pink fonts. Possibly painted in cursive on a dentist office wall. Confidence and self-belief do matter. Sure thing. But does success really come down to belief alone? Or does this quote quietly oversimplify the messy reality of effort, support, timing, systems, privilege, capacity, and circumstance? Dive into The Rabbit Hole with us, and let’s find out… Dive in deeper with us! episode Healthy vs stealthy expectations artwork

Healthy vs stealthy expectations

Today we’re unpacking the sneaky difference between healthy & stealthy expectations. Healthy expectations: examined and expressed. Stealthy expectations: unexamined and unexpressed. You know – the ones you’re not even aware of holding…until disappointment smacks you in the face and suddenly you’re spiraling because someone “should’ve known.” (That someone might even include you.) We explore how expectations quietly shape our relationships, communication, and emotional experiences — and why disappointment is often less about being “too needy” and more about the gap between what was hoped for and what was actually communicated. Sometimes we blame ourselves for having expectations…like “how could I be so dumb, let me just lower those so I avoid being crushed by disappointment”. But we all have hopes, needs, desires, and expectations. It’s just part of being human. The invitation is learning to recognize which expectations are conscious, communicated, and grounded in reality…and which ones are lurking behind the bushes, waiting to jump scare you. In this episode, we explore * Why unspoken expectations often lead to disappointment * The connection between communication, emotional needs, and relational tension * How “I shouldn’t have expectations” isn’t the solution you think it is * How stealthy expectations show up in friendships, parenting, romantic relationships, and online spaces Listen if you’ve ever * Felt disappointed but couldn’t fully explain why * Expected someone to “just know” what you needed * Tried to be “low maintenance” while secretly hoping people would show up differently * Wondered whether your expectations were healthy or unrealistic * Wanted to get rid of your high expectations because you’re so tired of being inevitably disappointed Dive deeper into The Rabbit Hole with us! episode Rejection Is Redirection... Or Is It? artwork

Rejection Is Redirection... Or Is It?

"Rejection is redirection" — you've seen it on the quote cards. But does it actually help, or does it just short-circuit the processing you need to do? In this episode, Jacqui and Megan give the phrase a proper rabbit hole treatment. They unpack the difference between using a saying as a genuine reframe versus reaching for it as a bypass, and why that distinction really matters, especially when someone else is applying it to you.  They explore what rejection actually holds: real information about energy, fit, and capacity... but also sometimes nothing at all, and that's okay too.  They also get into: * Why rejection lights up the same part of the brain as physical pain * The three pillars of self-compassion and why common humanity matters most here * Rejection sensitivity in neurodivergence * What the "rejection as information" framework actually looks like in practice

episode “What’s meant for you won’t miss you (or will it…)” artwork

“What’s meant for you won’t miss you (or will it…)”

In this episode, we’re unpacking one of the most widely shared (and hotly debated) phrases in self-help and manifestation culture: “What’s meant for you won’t miss you.” Megan wasn’t even super familiar with the quote, so maybe it’s not as widely shared and hotly debated as Jacqui thought…lol. This quote is often used as a platitude — especially around missed opportunities, relationships that didn’t work out, or paths not taken. We’re here to ask if it’s even really true. Or does this belief quietly encourage passivity, detachment, and a kind of spiritual bypassing of real-life choices and consequences? Hop on into this rabbit hole with us, and let’s find out… In this episode, we explore * What people really mean when they say “what’s meant for you won’t miss you” * Why this phrase can feel deeply comforting (especially during disappointment) * How it shows up in manifestation, dating, and life decisions * The tension between fate vs. personal responsibility * Whether opportunities can actually be missed * The role of timing, action, and awareness in shaping your life * How this belief can sometimes reduce complexity into a neat (but misleading) soundbite Dive deeper into The Rabbit Hole with us! episode “Release the how” artwork

“Release the how”

You’ve probably heard it like this: Set the intention. Trust the universe. Don’t worry about the details. Aka: “release the how”. Sounds peaceful. Surrender-y. Maybe even a little magical. But where’s the line between trust and total detachment from reality? In This Episode, We Explore * What people mean when they say “release the how” * How this phrase shows up in manifestation, mindset, and online business culture * The difference between trust, surrender, and avoidance * When “releasing the how” can be supportive—and when it becomes ungrounded * The role of action, strategy, and decision-making in creating results * Why uncertainty is uncomfortable (and what your nervous system has to say about it) * A more integrated way to hold both vision and reality Listen If You’ve Ever * Been told to “just trust” without a clear plan * Felt confused by manifestation advice around letting go of the how * Wondered how much is your responsibility vs. “the universe’s job” * Tried to surrender… and ended up feeling stuck instead * Wanted a more grounded approach to goals, manifestation, and action In true Rabbit Hole fashion, we’re unpacking the nuance—so you can hold your vision AND stay connected to reality, agency, and your next step.
