When the sun shines too brightly, we cover ourselves to find shade. When the plans change abruptly, we adjust to the changing tide. When we fall down 7 times, we get up 8 times. When the thoughts that we used to direct us forward, turn into fear that impedes us backward, we settle down, meditate and get back to business. Whenever, whatever, however, whoever… we shake it off and survive it all like our durable ancestors did. Ours is a great life no matter what circumstances come about… We Can Do It! And when you find it hard to believe that… look at babies. They will assure you, if your heart stays open… that life always goes on, we just have to go on with it. Peace! Teams of all kinds have standards, including Families as the ultimate teams. At the head of true families are fathers and mothers or two individuals making continued committed contributions to a child’s or children’s welfare so they can grow to be solid, strong, focused, disciplined adults someday. Sounds pretty easy… but indeed as many have learned… not as easy as it looks. This episode explores what standards are and how, when effectively placed and followed, they can help all manner of people, but especially fathers make their way to accomplishing their goals of raising children to grasp the baton. My profound wish and hope and even prayer for our world is that we can keep moving forward with the kinds of standards that can make us effective and even proud. Welcome back to The Round 12 MOTIVATIONAL MASTERY Podcast Show! Episode #137 “BY ANY MEANS!” …The Malcolm X Speech and Ossie Davis Eulogy! Good Sunday morning to everyone who decided to check in on the Round 12 Podcast again today. Last week’s episode was a presentation of the famous Martin Luther King Jr., “I have a Dream Speech.” When I decided to present this important historical speaking event, I felt it wouldn’t be complete without appropriate credit and recognition to one of the most important change agents the United States and the world has ever known… Malcolm X! This, his 1964 speech at the founding rally of the Organization of Afro-American Unity (OAAU), was the beginning of the end for him. Shortly after this event he was assassinated while speaking in the same building. Included in the episode are the words of his Eulogy, spoken originally by the illustrious actor and activist, Mr. Ossie Davis. Yes, there are many of us who heard about or saw the Spike Lee Movie called, Malcolm X, which received rave reviews… but even after all these years, this man Malcolm X is still one of the most misunderstood, revered and simultaneously reviled men of all time. So, I felt compelled to give this African American man, his fair and equitable moment here with me on my humble journey. My hope and my goal are to take historical perspectives like these and learn from them, so I can continue to do my part to Make Our World a Better Place to Live In. Welcome to the grind! ‘For what is each day but a choice between the right way and the easy way.’ But dreaming is still good. Dreams are where you rest a bit, recalculate, reorganize and get your beliefs and possibilities together. Dreams can give you the preview of things to come, or they can make you sort out the things gone past. Either way, when you close your eyes and chart your course, your ability to wake up, open your eyes, and build your map are essential to finding your way to the places you’ve chosen to go.
