After the murder of conservative influencer Charlie Kirk, some people posted comments that were tasteless or offensive but still protected by the First Amendment. Lawsuit settlements for people punished over those comments have now reportedly topped $1.5 million. Do we agree that even ugly speech is still protected speech? Black Crowes lead singer Chris Robinson is facing backlash after shutting down a crowd chanting “USA! USA!” during a concert. Some fans booed, and some walked out. What did he say—and was he out of line? Senator Ted Cruz pushed back against Republican Representative Andy Ogles, who had posted, "Homosexuality has no place in America." Cruz, responding to the statement, told reporters, "For all of recorded history, homosexuals have been part of humanity," adding, "I'm quite libertarian by nature." I think the behavior of consenting adults is their business."
